As far as I know verbs don't take parameters (yet). What you can do is create a file first, then open that and use verbs to manipulate it and quite Inkscape. (You can select objects from the command-line, have a look at inkscape --help.)

fails, as does all variations I've tried on above.

• Can this be done?
• Where should I look for --verb documentation? (I've only found fairly cursory material)
