I'm trying to drag and drop images from my Finder into my Inkscape page (in Mac X11), and it's not responding. Is this feature not possible yet?

Yes, that's correct.
Also, the clipboard cut/paste support between Inkscape and other applications is not available yet.

Just to be exhaustive, image cut and paste does not work but text cut and paste does. The lack of support of image drag and drop or cut and paste comes from the fact that Inkscape still needs X11 to run on Mac OS X. There is a native port of GTK (the interface toolkit that Inkscape uses) on its way and Inkscape will probably try to use it as soon as it is stable enough. This will suppress the need for X11 and probably open the way for such features. Help is very welcome on this matter: very few of us compile Inkscape on Mac OS X and the more people lend a hand, the quicker things will go.

One of the people that compile GTK+ and Inkscape on OS X without X11 need, could add a HOWTO on the wiki?
That would make it easier for mac users to help out, and also note what else can be done user-wise to make the native build advance more quickly.

Using Tomcat but need to do more? Need to support web services, security? Get stuff done quickly with pre-integrated technology to make your job easier. actually I was saying that there were very few of us compiling Inkscape on OS X even _with X11_ so there are even less without X11 ;-) I know of two actually and will try to contact them. The wiki page definitely needs some updating, even for the classic "with X11" way. Watch for updates in the next few days and come back asking if nothing has happened. http://wiki.inkscape.org/wiki/index.php/CompilingMacOsX
