2020-11-04 14-27-08 PST Martin Owens https://gitlab.com/inkscape/ux/-/issues 2020-11-04 14-44-01 PST Martin Owens For example, how do you know which things to move, when to move them, is there a modifier or is this something it does all the time, is there reflection or etc etc 2020-11-04 14-29-10 PST Martin Owens The tier banners 2020-11-04 14-28-11 PST Martin Owens Inkscape is crammed full of features, and the hunger for features ;-) 2020-11-04 14-32-11 PST Martin Owens It's great 2020-11-04 14-48-23 PST Martin Owens Please post directly, I don't want to end up being a gate keeper. Everyone should be free to post and I will stand by you if you feel shy about putting your ideas forward (because some people will poke holes, it's what they do). 2020-11-04 14-28-29 PST Martin Owens By the way, what do you think of Chris' new graphics for my patreon page? https://www.patreon.com/doctormo?fan_landing=true 2020-11-04 14-14-36 PST Martin Owens I didn't, can you link me in? 2020-11-04 14-27-03 PST Martin Owens Do you know how to make an issue in the ux team? with some mockups etc? 2020-11-04 14-26-43 PST Martin Owens You can select and manipulate node points themselves, but not bezier handles. I've often needed the feature you're suggesting. 2020-11-04 14-43-10 PST Martin Owens You'd be surprised by the level of detail required for even a simple concept. 2020-11-04 14-29-15 PST Martin Owens I should have been more specific 2020-11-04 14-27-29 PST Kim Olsen not at all, unfortunately. Haven't used that one. But I could look into it of course. 2020-11-04 14-14-18 PST Kim Olsen Hi, Martin. Did you see my suggestion on a feature to manipulate multiple node handles in unison? :) What are your thoughts on that? 2020-11-04 14-45-32 PST Kim Olsen I can create a mock-up of a post, and pass it by you? 2020-11-04 14-29-00 PST Kim Olsen ah, you mean the header? 2020-11-04 14-53-13 PST Kim Olsen You're right. And, yes, I'm pretty used to people poking, so it shouldn't affect me significantly anyway :) 2020-11-04 14-44-34 PST Kim Olsen Yeah, I get what you mean. I would of course add those specifics as well. 2020-11-04 14-18-25 PST Kim Olsen I was also looking for this feature: https://gitlab.com/inkscape/inbox/-/issues/468 2020-11-04 14-30-18 PST Kim Olsen pretty damn good :) 2020-11-04 14-18-41 PST Kim Olsen and I was told you already have implemented it in the latest version! :) 2020-11-04 14-31-02 PST Kim Olsen love the "mash the keyboard" one :') 2020-11-04 14-38-14 PST Kim Olsen not sure if I could get my point across, at the same level as the other posts on that GitLab page. With animated visuals etc. But it's pretty simple to understand what we'd like to do by saying "manipulating multiple selected node handles in unison", isn't it? 2020-11-04 14-27-53 PST Kim Olsen Good to know I'm not alone wanting this feature :) 2020-11-04 14-15-56 PST Kim Olsen well, it's that simple. I was making some ocean waves, and came to a point where I wanted to manipulate the node handles along the wave line. But I don't think it's possible to manipulate multiple selected node handles in unison. 2020-11-04 14-16-52 PST Kim Olsen I couldnt find it when searching or asking on reddit and this chat. So it might not be possible as it is today?

We should move forward the issue on Gitlab about upgrading RocketChat 2019-02-03 11-43-05 PST Manuel Recena I can do it. 2020-08-21 12-47-44 PDT Manuel Recena I will create a proper issue to address this topic 2019-02-03 11-44-32 PST Manuel Recena I think the Ansible Playbook worked very well. 2019-02-03 11-34-22 PST Manuel Recena Is the previous env avaialble? 2020-08-21 09-54-31 PDT Manuel Recena But in advance, I didn't touch anything, just restarting the server after facing the issue 2020-08-21 09-53-56 PDT Manuel Recena I didn't have a chance for participating on the gitlab issue regarding to Rocket.chat service... 2019-02-03 11-36-22 PST Manuel Recena that server is the previous Rocket.Chat, right? 2019-02-03 11-48-35 PST Manuel Recena Have you configured something related to letsencrypt? 2019-02-03 11-38-21 PST Manuel Recena I want to make sure that everything is working fine with Rocket.Chat 2018-12-27 01-57-35 PST Manuel Recena We needed to define the procedure to use the system 2018-09-27 12-28-38 PDT Manuel Recena I don't have any problem about maintaining all the infrastructure, but I need to know the requirements and which thinks I can decide 2018-09-27 12-02-45 PDT Manuel Recena I don't know if I understood correctly from your email 2018-12-27 02-03-07 PST Manuel Recena By the way, Happy Christmas! 2018-12-27 01-46-40 PST Manuel Recena But IMHO the base OS is enough updated 2018-09-27 12-03-14 PDT Manuel Recena But do we plan to have each service on a separated machine, right? 2020-11-08 10-57-50 PST Manuel Recena I'm blocked again. 2018-12-27 01-50-23 PST Manuel Recena And I am not sure a about the compatibility with Rocket.Chat 2018-12-27 01-43-28 PST Manuel Recena What is the motivation? 2018-09-27 12-13-33 PDT Manuel Recena The playbook are being designed in a different manner 2018-09-27 12-16-19 PDT Manuel Recena In any way, if a service grows up, we will need to scale the machine 2018-12-27 01-56-56 PST Manuel Recena From my side, it is done 2019-02-03 17-08-00 PST Bryce Harrington to avoid bus factor issues, it would probably make sense at some point for us to establish a team email that can be used for service registrations and such 2020-09-13 21-01-25 PDT Bryce Harrington Hi recena, yes we're safe. The county adjacent to us had to evacuate and we were on the cusp, but they got the fire near us under control yesterday, and we've not had to actually evacuate. We did pack everything up though. Hard to go through all your possessions and prioritize what small bit you want to preserve. I feel really bad for people around here who have lost their houses, and thankful the fire crews are working so hard. 2018-09-27 12-04-28 PDT Bryce Harrington the sponsored hosting provides us with up to 32G total memory for VMs. We can divide the memory up by 2G increments, thus we have an effective maximum of 16 vms 2018-09-27 12-09-33 PDT Bryce Harrington services/cloudscale_nodes.txt is where my current thoughts on purposes are 2018-12-26 15-09-03 PST Bryce Harrington heya 2020-11-08 08-36-47 PST Bryce Harrington It's at 5.102.146.198 I've set up ssh root access for you and I 2018-12-27 01-58-15 PST Bryce Harrington how? 2020-12-30 10-09-43 PST Bryce Harrington hi recena, I am guessing your time hasn't freed up much. I hope everything is ok. I've got a bit of time over the holidays but it's going to tighten up again after new years. On https://gitlab.com/inkscape/infra/services/-/issues/43 Mc had expressed interest in handling the rocketchat upgrade. Later today I'm going to give Mc root access to the machines so he can do the task, unless you tell me otherwise. 2018-12-27 02-06-45 PST Bryce Harrington Happy Christmas to you too! 2018-09-27 12-26-11 PDT Bryce Harrington the most definitive list of services we need to host, was in the original call for hosting, which I think is posted on the main website. Should be googleable I think. 2019-02-03 17-11-18 PST Bryce Harrington another idea might be to set up a mailing list in the new mailman3 and have the incoming emails from infra(a)inkscape.org go there for handling. 2019-02-03 11-35-03 PST Bryce Harrington 5.102.147.13 2020-11-08 08-25-09 PST Bryce Harrington I will create a new node for you, and leave him off ssh 2020-11-08 08-45-00 PST Bryce Harrington I don't usually leave chat.inkscape.org up and running, plus if we're in the midst of an upgrade we may not be able to chat that way anyway 2019-02-01 23-16-49 PST Bryce Harrington error.rocketchat.2019-02-01.txt (https://chat.inkscape.org/file-upload/kz47F6WuL6NxFkYjE/error.rocketchat.20…) 2018-12-27 01-50-53 PST Bryce Harrington yes, no problem 2019-02-03 11-39-13 PST Bryce Harrington ah 2018-09-27 12-13-19 PDT Bryce Harrington similarly, we have our main web server at OSUOSL, but figure keeping another 4G in reserve in case we had to some day self-host that, might also be smart 2018-09-27 12-14-11 PDT Bryce Harrington oh, how are they being designed differently? 2018-09-27 12-13-43 PDT Bryce Harrington however I haven't penciled in either of those in the file, since they're just speculative for now 2020-09-09 15-18-06 PDT Bryce Harrington I thought of two options, one would be to set up a new VM entirely with all new stuff, and migrate the data to it. The other option would be to shut down the chat service, back it up really well, and then attempt to upgrade in place 2018-09-27 12-11-03 PDT Bryce Harrington ian's mailman3 work has been against ubuntu 16.04, so best to keep that isolated for now, at least until it can be moved to ubuntu 18.04 2019-02-03 11-42-46 PST Bryce Harrington do you want to walk through it's creation to learn, or shall I set it up? 2020-09-09 15-15-26 PDT Bryce Harrington my area of Oregon is currently on fire, and I may need to evacuate (we're packing in any case) so I likely will be unavailable at least for a week 2018-09-27 12-09-46 PDT Bryce Harrington however I feel we need a better thought out strategy on how to divide things 2020-11-08 11-29-55 PST Bryce Harrington I thought my provisioning script automatically configured /etc/sudoers for passwordless logins but I see it's still a manual config step 2020-11-08 11-30-10 PST Bryce Harrington which I've done now. 2020-08-21 09-57-50 PDT Bryce Harrington I also installed logwatch, but it pulled in postfix so I purged both. Hopefully that doesn't disrupt anything mail-wise 2019-02-03 17-09-06 PST Bryce Harrington I can establish email redirects via gandi, which would be better than using our own personal email accounts, but it still would just go to one person. 2018-12-27 02-00-01 PST Bryce Harrington ah ok 2019-02-03 11-34-11 PST Bryce Harrington hi 2020-08-21 09-56-32 PDT Bryce Harrington ok 2018-12-27 01-48-07 PST Bryce Harrington okay. Also fwiw, in doing the update to alpha, and running the meltdownchecker script before and after, the difference is modest 2019-02-03 11-41-26 PST Bryce Harrington https://gitlab.com/inkscape/infra/credentials 2018-09-27 12-23-56 PDT Bryce Harrington credentials/services.txt has a comprehensive listing of services we currently provide, or that are provided to us, and includes some run externally by 3rd parties which we need to be aware of. 2020-09-09 15-18-45 PDT Bryce Harrington your call on what strategy to take. If I'm not evacuated tonight then I can try to at least get things set up for you 2020-11-08 08-46-43 PST Bryce Harrington comments on the gitlab ticket also reach me reasonably quickly 2020-08-21 09-58-44 PDT Bryce Harrington for the security fix, are you planning on patching, or do a full update of rocket.chat to a more current version? 2018-09-27 11-59-01 PDT Bryce Harrington hiya 2019-02-03 11-49-51 PST Bryce Harrington checking... 2019-02-03 11-40-02 PST Bryce Harrington ok I wondered about that 2019-02-03 11-36-59 PST Bryce Harrington correct 2019-02-03 11-48-49 PST Bryce Harrington it sounds like yaron knows ansible and would be interested in helping, and he's been contributing to the project for a long time. it may be beneficial to involve him a little 2019-02-03 11-34-28 PST Bryce Harrington yes 2018-12-27 01-57-48 PST Bryce Harrington yes 2020-11-08 08-24-03 PST Bryce Harrington he had requested ssh access to the machine "as backup". I did not give him permission to go ahead and start the work, certainly not without coordinating with you. 2018-09-27 12-06-31 PDT Bryce Harrington I'm thinking for production machines we may wish some to have more than 2G memory, so that reduces the total. So I'm figuring maybe 6-7 production machines 2018-09-27 12-05-10 PDT Bryce Harrington some of those we want to provide for folks to use for development, a couple we need to reserve for staging purposes, and so we can install services across the remaining ones 2020-08-21 14-44-42 PDT Bryce Harrington no, whatever the problem was had happened prior to the dist-upgrade 2020-11-06 13-12-10 PST Bryce Harrington cool sounds good 2019-02-03 11-38-46 PST Bryce Harrington what was wrong with it? 2019-02-03 17-09-54 PST Bryce Harrington I noticed that gitlab allows email-based bug submissions, so maybe one idea would be to set up a redirect that points at a private gitlab subgroup issue tracker 2019-02-03 11-51-40 PST Bryce Harrington btw, the mailman3 ansible includes a gen_credentials.py script to make random passwords for testing purposes 2019-02-03 17-10-33 PST Bryce Harrington only problem might be that it opens a new bug for every email to that address, and that could be a spam annoyance. 2018-12-26 15-13-25 PST Bryce Harrington I dist-upgraded alpha.inkscape.org. Any concerns if I do the same on chat.inkscape.org? 2018-09-27 12-08-40 PDT Bryce Harrington I figure one production machine should be dedicated to backup, and only backup 2018-09-27 12-16-26 PDT Bryce Harrington yes 2019-02-03 17-11-35 PST Bryce Harrington maybe you have some other ideas to consider? 2018-09-27 12-06-52 PDT Bryce Harrington I'm betting we'll end up with more than 6-7 individual services, so we'll need to have some lesser services piggyback on the same vm 2020-08-21 09-57-11 PDT Bryce Harrington I did a dist-upgrade (since it's not been done in a while) but noticed some error with mongodb when you rebooted it today so didn't want to reboot and break things 2018-09-27 12-12-45 PDT Bryce Harrington I've thought we should keep at least 4G reserved for in case we need to start self-hosting gitlab. That's not planned for now; we're doing fine with their existing service. But we may need something a bit beefy if we have to go that route. I don't know 2018-12-27 01-51-09 PST Bryce Harrington ahh ok I was wondering about that status 2020-11-06 13-12-23 PST Bryce Harrington I should be around 2019-02-03 11-42-02 PST Bryce Harrington there is a README for how to create new service credentials, so me or you can create one for rocketchat admin 2020-11-08 08-46-19 PST Bryce Harrington I for synchronous chat, I'm on IRC freenode as #bryce (I hang out on #ubuntu-devel) however I'm not always watching that (work hours only mostly). 2018-09-27 12-15-42 PDT Bryce Harrington yes 2018-09-27 12-05-23 PDT Bryce Harrington you can see how I split things out in the file in the services repo 2019-02-03 17-08-19 PST Bryce Harrington like maybe infra(a)inkscape.org or something 2019-02-03 11-50-44 PST Bryce Harrington the mailman3 ansible scripts do set up letsencrypt 2020-09-09 15-14-54 PDT Bryce Harrington hi recena, yes you're right 2018-12-27 01-44-08 PST Bryce Harrington none, just an item on my todo list to keep the systems upgraded. 2019-02-03 11-43-37 PST Bryce Harrington ok, I also did an apt-get upgrade on the host, so it's got system updates too. I did not do a dist-upgrade so it's not 100% up to date 2020-11-08 08-23-14 PST Bryce Harrington https://gitlab.com/inkscape/infra/services/-/issues/43#note_437576404 2018-09-27 12-17-02 PDT Bryce Harrington cloudscale provides a way to scale the resources, so starting with 2G and moving up should be feasible. I haven't tried that out yet though. 2019-02-03 11-44-22 PST Bryce Harrington Ian has been a lot more active with mailman3 work, and we're nearly done 2020-11-18 00-22-04 PST Bryce Harrington hi recena, sorry again for being a blockage when you were working on the rocketchat upgrade previously. Let me know how I can help you. 2018-09-27 12-29-24 PDT Bryce Harrington the main priorities have been: mailman3, forums, wiki. And the supporting services for those - backup, dns 2018-09-27 12-07-52 PDT Bryce Harrington thus why I suggest putting rocketchat and weblate together one one machine, but if there is a better arrangement I'm open to thoughts 2019-02-03 11-37-47 PST Bryce Harrington but it has mailman3 overlaid on it, so the nginx config and probably other things are incorrect 2019-02-03 11-45-30 PST Bryce Harrington some of the remaining goofs could be addressed via documentation, so the backup info you're writing will help there. 2019-02-03 11-49-32 PST Bryce Harrington no, is that from mailman3? 2020-11-08 08-44-27 PST Bryce Harrington btw, my direct email is bryce(a)bryceharrington.org; I check this regularly when I'm online so that's the fastest way to contact me 2019-02-03 11-40-56 PST Bryce Harrington we have a GPG encrypted store for project credentials with controlled access for who can see it 2018-12-27 01-45-56 PST Bryce Harrington agreed. we don't have a mechanism to create a snapshot though 2020-11-06 13-06-53 PST Bryce Harrington hi recena, sorry again it took me a while to get the machine set up, just wanted to check in if you've had a chance to start work on the node, and if you ran into any other troubles I can help with 2019-02-03 11-44-41 PST Bryce Harrington yes it did, it saved my bacon. Good work 2018-09-27 12-26-57 PDT Bryce Harrington however, I can tell there are going to be a lot of unexpected services needed. Both rocketchat and weblate came up as requests only just recently, and are in neither of those lists. 2020-08-21 09-56-36 PDT Bryce Harrington heya :-)

What's the reason? Why not? 2020-09-07 11-58-35 PDT Patrick The issue was only to collect evidence why the update did not work I think (I guess Maren was confused because you mentioned you'd attempt the update, but apparently we're still at the same version) 2020-09-07 03-18-58 PDT Patrick If you find nothing suspicious let's hope nothing bad happened and maybe consider to update our RC instance if possible? (Not sure what happened last time you tried, I guess there were some roadblocks?) 2018-09-23 04-51-03 PDT Patrick I'm happy to ask him again, though. 2018-09-23 04-36-11 PDT Patrick Do we want to annoy them? 2018-09-23 04-59-47 PDT Patrick OK, let's leave it at that for the moment. One more thing (just to explain why I felt some dislike from you side, maybe I interpreted it wrong): For other issues you told me "to check for issues upstream". I totally agree that's usually the correct way. But in this case *you* set up the service, so as we're a team (I hope we are) you were my go-to person. You know rocket chat much better than me, so even if there are issues filed upstream you're more likely to find them and/or find a solution (i.e. it's more efficient). I totally respect that we're all doing this in our spare time, so I understand if you didn't feel like looking into these yourself, but it helps if you say so. Otherwise (if you just say "check upstream") it feels like you're unwilling to help which is not particularly helpful to achieve a welcoming environment for everybody and make people feel like they're on the same team. 2018-10-14 12-04-06 PDT Patrick Thanks! I'll let you know how it goes... 2018-09-23 04-39-27 PDT Patrick By whom? I'll happily re-assign the bug then. (It says "Admin" behind your name, though, just saying... ;-) ) 2020-09-07 12-12-09 PDT Patrick Huh! That's interesting... Seems I'm hitting a GitLab bug! 2020-09-07 11-57-46 PDT Patrick Decision? 2020-09-07 03-16-58 PDT Patrick Well, I have no idea what happened, so I'm unsure what to report. In the best case it was some user error / bug on my end, but in the worst case somebody was trying to inject their code into our instance. 2018-09-23 05-20-14 PDT Patrick Thanks. I already pinged Ryan (I re-used the issue), so if you should flick the switch in the meantime maybe just let him know. 2018-09-23 04-44-50 PDT Patrick If I need to ask the mailing list because you're unable to tell me I'll do so, but your behavior right now is no acceptable in my opinion. It seems there are issues between us after all :-( 2018-09-23 04-42-47 PDT Patrick It's not a topic for the mailing list but for whoever has admin access.... 2020-09-07 12-14-27 PDT Patrick The messages appear with the new link you posted... GitLab never ceases to amaze :-D 2020-09-07 12-18-29 PDT Patrick OK, that clarifies a lot - I had already been wondering why there was no activity on that issue. 2018-09-23 05-40-28 PDT Patrick Cool! Don't worry about your English - it's perfectly fine and I can always ask when I have difficulty understanding a sentence. I guess you and Jabier would really get along well. ;-) He's from Spain, too, and also constantly worries people would not understand him. 2020-09-07 03-17-52 PDT Patrick I have no proof either way, so maybe you can see some evidence in the logs or collect it in admin interface. 2020-09-07 12-13-20 PDT Patrick Clipboard - September 7, 2020 9:13 PM (https://chat.inkscape.org/file-upload/W72ThxKQ9uDQx6SJy/Clipboard%20-%20Sep…) 2020-09-07 12-19-08 PDT Patrick Let's wait for Bryce's reply then... 2018-09-23 05-35-08 PDT Patrick OK, great! I'm looking forward to the weblate implementation. I really like your work so far! (I mean it and I think it's a good time to point it out as sometimes it feels like people are complaining an awful lot, which might be natural as one is usually discussing issues and not the tings that *do* work. So - for all the times I forget to say it - great job!) > Don't hesitate it Did you mean "don't doubt it"? Seems the Spanish word for "hesitate" (dudar) is the same as for "doubt" whereas the meaning is quite different. 2018-09-23 04-28-09 PDT Patrick Don't understand me wrong, it's certainly not a huge issue, but it's an issue nonetheless 2020-09-07 12-09-04 PDT Patrick What specifically do you need from Bryce (he's rather busy lately, but if we ask him for a specific task he might find the time to look into it or maybe we even can find someone else)? 2018-09-23 04-41-31 PDT Patrick Come on... we're constantly understaffed in the Inkscape project, so everybody with access to a service usually is "the one in charge". If you don't feel that way you should communicate that openly (e.g. on the mailing list) and make sure people know whom to ask for support. Otherwise it's becoming frustrating for everybody. 2020-09-06 14-41-21 PDT Patrick This is an alert - We might have malware on our instance. I just wrote a message when the word " @ worm959" was inserted somewhere in the middle. (There's a chance I did saomething stupid on my end, but I'm not aware of anything, so we should triple-check) 2020-09-07 12-13-35 PDT Patrick Seems an issue in loading related branches makes it fail to load the page altogether! 2018-09-23 04-17-57 PDT Patrick Hi Manuel, I'm not sure if I'm misinterpreting the situation which is why I think we should talk before this becomes something more: - First of all it seems there's a certain unexplained tension between us. For every issue I mentioned to you so far you met me with varying levels of rejection. Why is that? Did I do anything to warrant such behavior? - Secondly closing https://gitlab.com/inkscape/infra/services/issues/13 off like that without giving any reason came across as incredibly rude. In the Inkscape community we don't close issues without reason. If it's a personal reason (e.g. you don't have the time or you don't think its relevant), then say so and unassign yourself from the bug (remember you specifically asked people to add you as an assignee if they had any issues with the new service, though!). However seeing as this is only flicking a switch I don't understand why there could be any difficulty with this (as I understand it I could do it myself in the web UI if I had the permissions). I feel that you owe me at least an explanation (possibly also an apology). 2018-09-23 04-36-05 PDT Patrick For me it was annoying on the test instance during the hackfest as I did not have created an account yet. Users of this service will feel the same. 2018-10-14 09-02-13 PDT Patrick Hi Manuel, here's the public SSH key: ssh-rsa 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 2020-09-07 12-18-50 PDT Patrick Thanks for figuring that out with me! 2020-09-07 12-13-07 PDT Patrick That's what I'm seeing when visiting the issue without anchor in the link: 2018-09-23 04-37-19 PDT Patrick If not (which I assume goes without saying) we should address this "bug" and the resolution seems trivial unless I'm missing something. However you seem to be blocking it. Why? 2020-09-07 12-09-40 PDT Patrick Did you link the wrong issue? There are no comments... 2018-09-23 04-50-37 PDT Patrick Just to be sure: Are you feeling uneasy setting configurations because you think it needs the "blessing" of the "leadership"? If so: Inkscape is lead by the community. There is no single "leader" for any service. 2020-09-07 12-08-00 PDT Patrick OK, can you add that info to the issue? I don't think people are aware of that... 2018-09-23 04-48-13 PDT Patrick I thought that was the obvious solution... If you don't want to be in charge of configuration (although I don't see how that can be clearly distinguished from setting up the service) then I need to know whom to aks to do just that. Is Ryan the person to ask? 2018-09-23 04-16-44 PDT Patrick @recena Can we talk? 2018-09-23 04-27-48 PDT Patrick That's the second part, yes.

2020-06-07 00-43-09 PDT Costa I was also using the save button or pressing Ctrl + S now and then so there should be somewhere saved right? 2020-06-07 00-42-53 PDT Costa Oh my god I’m sorry I meant Ctrl + C.. But even if it was ctrl + q I was on chrome when i pressed it so why would inkspace close? straight away when i opened it. and even if i closed it by mistake, normally it warns you to save it before you close it unless it’s already saved which means it should be on that file no?

2020-04-05 01-04-19 PDT greytomorrow Guten morgen, Patrick!...when you get a free moment, could you have a look at https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/1801694 and tell me what's the situation? As far as I can see "Pop out of group" works...the only things that don't are as Tyler Durden says: CTRL-click not directly on the group and manipulation from the XML Editor (seems to leave a reference inside the group). But since you mention https://gitlab.com/inkscape/inkscape/-/merge_requests/419 I'm not sure if I should migrate or not. Thanks! 2020-04-03 10-24-29 PDT greytomorrow You're absolutely right, the problem really isn't one of Inkscape's but how the underlying OS handles Open/Save/Save As situations 2020-04-03 12-14-11 PDT greytomorrow Thanks for your input...I'll try to keep the "search and destroy" to a minimum! 2020-04-03 10-23-43 PDT greytomorrow Hello, Patrick! Sorry to disturb you but I didn't think it proper to continue/finish our conversation over on GitLab (https://gitlab.com/inkscape/inbox/-/issues/2146)... 2020-09-12 21-38-38 PDT greytomorrow And if even so, the LaunchPad submitter can always reopen on GitLab. That doesn't necessarily give me license to close bugs "willy-nilly" but ones I can't replicate will be dealt with. Thanks again. 2020-04-03 11-19-12 PDT greytomorrow Nein, sorry...Englisch  2020-04-03 10-25-33 PDT greytomorrow Regarding closing, that's your call. 2020-04-03 12-11-16 PDT greytomorrow  The avatar is from GNUStep's Language Preferences! I always liked it, so... 2020-09-12 13-46-31 PDT greytomorrow Thank you very much. :+1: Since you confirmed my suspicions this is an edge-case issue and I could find no problems with either file (they're identical except for object names), I'll close it. If the submitter wishes he can reopen on GitLab. 2020-04-03 10-26-28 PDT greytomorrow If it were up to me, returning to "border-cases" and wishlist, I'd search and destroy! But I imagine the Inkscape team doesn't want that either! 2020-09-12 12-41-36 PDT greytomorrow CIao, Patrick, so sorry to disturb you with this but could you please have a look at https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/1716724 when you get a moment? I tested in 1.1-dev and could see no problems opening nor in the XML. Is it possible I'm missing something? Otherwise, I'll just close with a "Can't replicate". Thank you so much. 2020-09-12 21-34-03 PDT greytomorrow Absolutely. But as I said, I tested with latest and it appeared to work, so... 2020-04-03 10-25-15 PDT greytomorrow Again, I was just playing Devil's Advocate and I just migrated the bug report, not because it was close to my heart or anything 2020-04-03 12-13-35 PDT greytomorrow And again, regarding this issue, i feel that's more the responsibility of the OS 2020-04-05 04-09-39 PDT greytomorrow so....migrate! 2020-04-03 12-13-01 PDT greytomorrow As far as closing this issue at hand (and others) I'm not adverse to the idea...I personally like to think a project has to focus on what's essential...obviously everyone and their dog has different ideas as to what essential though  2020-04-05 03-36-34 PDT Patrick Current status is "no progress". Unfortunately the author of the MR did not address the open issues, so it needs someone to properly investigate this. As this never was a priority for me I didn't fell like doing the MR author's work for them... 2020-04-03 11-31-06 PDT Patrick Personally I'm probably the opposite of you (I'd prefer to keep around every bug and feature request even when they're only slightly reasonable in order not to putt anybody off). But it's not a long-term viable solution, and I also like to keep my trackers clean, so I try to close early if it seems reasonable these days. 2020-04-03 10-36-20 PDT Patrick Deutsch? 2020-09-12 13-37-24 PDT Patrick I've not retested in a new version yet - maybe later. 2020-04-03 11-26-14 PDT Patrick Oh OK. How'd you get a "was?" avatar then? ;-) 2020-04-05 04-15-32 PDT Patrick well, it's unfixed, so... yes. 2020-09-12 13-36-37 PDT Patrick It's a pretty arcane issue and mostly Photoshop is to blame for writing a file with questionable content like this, but Inkscape could be doing something wrong to break the file after all. Basically it needs further investigation, but the issue is so rare and only occurs in combination with commercial software, so priority to investigate this is very low... 2020-09-12 15-11-08 PDT Patrick Problem seems to be resolved indeed in current master. Note that edge-cases are valid bugs after all - important is that the issues are actually fixed. 2020-04-03 11-28-50 PDT Patrick As for closing, I don't want that to be my call. It should be the call of everybody, that's why I added my opinion. If others agree (at least to some degree) then we can close the issue in good conscience. However my opinions could diverge from others, in which case I don't want to close this prematurely.

2020-10-15 06-47-32 PDT greytomorrow are you suggesting its elimination? 2020-04-01 22-50-20 PDT greytomorrow It makes so much more sense when you say it! Thank you! 2020-10-15 06-49-10 PDT greytomorrow I wasn't privy to that information 2020-03-30 22-10-41 PDT greytomorrow well, then...i'll migrate! thanks for your help. 2020-10-15 06-45-43 PDT greytomorrow Could you clarify "usability/discoverability is bad for the dialog" 2020-10-15 06-49-52 PDT greytomorrow So someone could have posted this information in the issue itself, no? Instead of the free-for-all it has become 2020-10-15 06-55-34 PDT greytomorrow You know what's funny...I DID ask what Paint Servers was when it first appeared...on the forum if I'm not mistaken...and NOBODY could answer me. 2020-03-30 13-20-34 PDT greytomorrow ciao, i see you didn't activate "snap to centers of objects" (who names these things?) It's the 14th icon down on the snap bar. 2020-03-30 05-35-13 PDT greytomorrow ...I believe I had to activate one more snap option...just one second... 2020-10-15 06-50-22 PDT greytomorrow Yelling? I can't even hear you! 2020-10-15 06-52-47 PDT greytomorrow Well, y'know...now I feel foolish...submitting an issue that might not even exist in the next release...and nobody correcting me along the way. 2020-10-15 06-56-57 PDT greytomorrow As you said, you can't know everything. 2020-09-11 00-17-54 PDT greytomorrow or this in this tris of bugs https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/1742329 2020-10-15 06-48-49 PDT greytomorrow there's already a "patterns" section in the F&S 2020-10-15 06-59-54 PDT greytomorrow Have a nice day. 2020-03-30 05-33-47 PDT greytomorrow https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/1773470 2020-10-15 06-42-06 PDT greytomorrow I think we do. In any case the issue got subverted along the way. I hope you are at least in agreement with this. 2020-10-15 06-46-57 PDT greytomorrow Either to the palette below or the Fill and Stroke dialog 2020-10-20 00-42-28 PDT greytomorrow Thanks all the same: I see that it is still experimental. 2020-03-30 05-39-00 PDT greytomorrow no, thank YOU 2020-10-15 06-59-41 PDT greytomorrow In any case, I'm closing the issue. I'd thank you for your insight into this issue but unfortunately it comes a little late. Your first comment there was merely a disagreement of what to call it and not, "hang on...this may be a temporary thing." 2020-10-15 06-48-11 PDT greytomorrow So you **are** suggesting its elimination 2020-09-11 00-16-59 PDT greytomorrow or this? https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/1742334 2020-10-15 06-45-28 PDT greytomorrow I've been away for a week now, actually. I've come back to this issue after receiving email notifications to find the original issue way off in left field. And I'd appreciate you not being my "gauge" for "taking breaks". 2020-03-30 00-41-17 PDT greytomorrow Guten morgen! Sorry to disturb you but are you https://launchpad.net/~marenhachmann ? 2020-04-01 05-21-38 PDT greytomorrow It's me again...really sorry to trouble you but there's a bug report that you seemed to understand what the submitter was talking about...if it were totally up to me I'd close with INVALID: WTF  https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/1763359 but only when you have some free time...no rush...really...DANKE! 2020-03-30 05-37-29 PDT greytomorrow ...which strangely enough, shows the tooltip "Cusp node to object midpoint" 2020-10-15 06-47-06 PDT greytomorrow No 2020-03-30 05-36-37 PDT greytomorrow "Snap to centers of objects" 2020-10-15 06-50-09 PDT greytomorrow Knowing this I would have closed it, knowing it was a temporary step along the way. 2020-10-15 06-38-25 PDT greytomorrow https://gitlab.com/inkscape/inbox/-/issues/3619#note_430300489 @Moini, it appears I am the only one here **not** allowed to go "over the top". 2020-10-15 06-48-28 PDT greytomorrow Either it exists or it doesn't 2020-03-30 05-33-44 PDT greytomorrow As you know, I'm migrating bugs from Launchpad to GitLab and I've come across another bug submitted by you... 2020-09-11 00-18-07 PDT greytomorrow Thnak you. Reply at your own convenience 2020-03-30 05-34-45 PDT greytomorrow ...and I can snap that node to the bounding box midpoint...BUT... 2020-03-30 13-20-53 PDT greytomorrow I'm not saying it's correct behaviour, I'm just saying it works. 2020-10-15 06-52-36 PDT greytomorrow It wasn't my merge request...in fact, as I wrote, I felt a MR was premature. 2020-10-20 00-39-57 PDT greytomorrow Good morning. Would you be so kind as to point me to documentation on the `Selectors and CSS` dialog panel, please? If documentation isn't your department, then I'm sorry to have bothered you. 2020-03-30 05-34-07 PDT greytomorrow I downloaded the example .svg and tested... 2020-10-15 06-41-10 PDT greytomorrow I don't think so...not at all 2020-03-31 04-58-08 PDT greytomorrow :+1: 2020-09-11 00-16-19 PDT greytomorrow Excuse me, Hachmann  are you still experiencing this issue? https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/1742331 2020-10-15 06-47-20 PDT greytomorrow Where does that leave the `Paint Server` dialog? 2020-03-30 05-38-04 PDT greytomorrow So...I don't know if this is actually a bug to be migrated or not. Your thoughts? 2020-10-15 06-49-55 PDT Moini Sorry for yelling... 2020-10-15 06-50-59 PDT Moini This may involve UX, and also checking for the 'deeper problem' before trying to solve a superficial one. 2020-10-15 06-47-48 PDT Moini I'm suggesting moving it as a popup or something into the F+S dialog. 2020-10-15 06-47-03 PDT Moini See what I mean? 2020-03-30 05-28-37 PDT Moini Yep, same person. 2020-09-21 14-54-05 PDT Moini [ ](https://chat.inkscape.org/direct/greytomorrow?msg=2aExcRn3qAbdTw8Ad) Yes. And you? () 2020-10-15 06-49-35 PDT Moini I KNOW. That's why I've been asking to collect it previous to making rash decisions. 2020-10-15 06-56-47 PDT Moini I only look after the German section. 2020-10-15 06-43-19 PDT Moini Which from my view, is for good reasons. 2020-04-01 14-13-03 PDT Moini Also broken for 'bend from clipboard' and also for Pen tool. 2020-03-31 04-48-10 PDT Moini Thank you! 2020-10-15 06-56-28 PDT Moini Only Martin / doctormo is there, as far as I know. 2020-10-15 06-54-56 PDT Moini I don't think anyone has a problem with that. 2020-10-15 06-48-27 PDT Moini Moving, not deleting. The concept is a good one. 2020-10-15 06-41-22 PDT Moini We may have different views there. 2020-03-30 12-38-00 PDT Moini 1.0.x_snap_cusp_node_to_bbox_midpoint.mp4 (https://chat.inkscape.org/file-upload/vAt2vjuT533SzgYQy/1.0.x_snap_cusp_nod…) 2020-10-15 06-47-26 PDT Moini It's not useful in the place where it is. 2020-10-15 06-43-03 PDT Moini Yes, and I know I'm the one who is changing the topic there. 2020-03-30 12-37-47 PDT Moini It doesn't snap for me in 0.92.x nor in 1.0.x 2020-10-15 06-45-54 PDT Moini Sure, I'm not sending you away, just making suggestions that may help. 2020-10-15 06-40-56 PDT Moini No, nobody is. I think you misunderstood the other person. 2020-10-15 06-47-16 PDT Moini The dialog is the problem. 2020-10-15 06-50-33 PDT Moini Hence I've been asking to coordinate first. 2020-04-01 14-12-37 PDT Moini (move the original rectangle after copying to see it) 2020-04-25 15-43-43 PDT Moini Hey grey! You're also invited to fill in our Contributor interview at https://framaforms.org/inkscape-contributor-interview-1587833730 :) 2020-03-30 12-37-59 PDT Moini 0.92.x_snap_cusp_node_to_bbox_midpoint.mp4 (https://chat.inkscape.org/file-upload/LnqgxQ6Dwz5pm7w5E/0.92.x_snap_cusp_no…) 2020-10-15 06-56-15 PDT Moini It's mainly visited and tended to by advanced users. 2020-10-15 06-49-14 PDT Moini Unfortunately, after GSOC ended, he stopped working on it, and so we ended up with the low usability. 2020-10-15 06-50-24 PDT Moini I don't know how plans are for it now. 2020-10-15 06-55-56 PDT Moini Yeah... the forum is not visited by the people who know the plans... mostly. 2020-10-15 06-51-32 PDT Moini It's unfortunate that this 'hits' your merge request, but it is as it is. 2020-10-15 06-49-57 PDT Moini :/ 2020-04-01 14-11-03 PDT Moini Hi - so the user is copying a rectangle to the clipboard and using that for the 'shape' option of the pencil tool. 2020-10-15 07-00-04 PDT Moini Yes, that's true. Have a nice day, too. 2020-10-15 06-54-19 PDT Moini Not everyone is there all the time. Sometimes it can help to ask people about stuff directly, like 'Hey, I see this dialog looks somewhat incomplete, what are the plans for it?'. I'm not sure whether Valentine would have replied, though, so - yes, it's hard, and yes, you can't know everything. That's normal. 2020-10-15 06-42-33 PDT Moini Maybe take a break from that discussion for one or two days, then reread stuff slowly. It's what helps me, usually, when discussions get too hot. There's no urgency in resolving that issue. 2020-09-21 14-54-22 PDT Moini Have you tested the others yourself already? 2020-03-30 14-35-20 PDT Moini The object center is a different thing. Try it with a filtered object where the filter area extends more to one side (e.g. a drop shadow filter). This is a bug, and it is still reproducible. 2020-10-15 06-48-37 PDT Moini It was even intended to move it there. 2020-10-15 06-48-51 PDT Moini Ask Valentin about the original plans. 2020-03-30 05-38-53 PDT Moini I'll look into this later, thanks for letting me know! 2020-10-15 06-46-12 PDT Moini Where would you go if you want to assign a fill to an object?

A01 2019-12-27 05-49-42 PST Moini It just came back ... I guess you were at home for the holidays, maybe ... 2019-12-02 13-16-50 PST Moini Looking back in the chat log, that sending must have happened a lot earlier, it only seemed such a short time ago. Mmmh. I hope it's going to arrive soon. Must have been about October, 22nd or so. 2019-12-28 05-17-55 PST Moini Arghs... things like these happen, unfortunately. I've been disappointed by post and other delivery services so many times... only this time, I find it's really sad. They put so many blocks into the way, to discourage people from using their service, it seems - and then, when it finally worked, that silly thing comes back. It's not your fault at all, but I've had enough of the post for a while (also it would get too expensive...). Maybe it can serve as encouragement for you to join developers in Rennes next spring? https://libregraphicsmeeting.org/2020/en/index.html (they are going to meet before that, I believe). 2019-12-27 05-49-58 PST Moini 4032-3024-max.jpg (https://chat.inkscape.org/file-upload/RzHBoHz4SmXBNciEK/4032-3024-max.jpg) 2019-12-27 05-53-22 PST Moini I'll keep it for you, and if you ever go to an Inkscape hackfest, I'll make sure you get it. Although, probably, then you won't need it, as others have stickers there, too... :-/ 2019-04-13 06-55-35 PDT Moini https://framadrive.org/s/JYtMn3wkk6PsMDQ 2019-12-27 05-51-25 PST Moini Or maybe the postman/-woman forgot to leave a notification for you ... 2019-12-02 08-19-01 PST Moini Hi Valentin! The Wiki capitalizes each user name, so it's going to be 'Vanntile' with capital V instead. Your first password is 'eigohth7Oemo' - please change it as soon as possible. Btw. did the stickers arrive yet? I finally sent them two or three weeks ago, they should be arriving soon if they haven't yet. 2019-09-07 12-24-51 PDT Moini The envelope is ready, I'll post it next time we go shopping :)

2020-11-27 04-48-21 PST greytomorrow Well, thanks for your input...as I said, I'll keep looking but otherwise I'll file a new report and let the powers that be decide 2020-04-02 10-09-53 PDT greytomorrow Nathan...RE: https://gitlab.com/inkscape/inbox/-/issues/2164 2020-04-07 04-57-16 PDT greytomorrow Text_and_Font_2.svg (https://chat.inkscape.org/file-upload/rMqH2qcedNntLR7Tp/Text_and_Font_2.svg) 2020-11-27 04-43-02 PST greytomorrow Long story short, when using my Wacom tablet, sometimes the cursor is offset making drawing and selecting difficult. ( "Oh no! Not greytomorrow **again!**" ) I'm asking you before I do a general search 'cos **you're a bright fella that uses Linux** and I like you better than Google!...Being how I have two instances of Inkscape on my machine (1.0.1 and the snap) when I click on "Activities" I obviously see two instances of Inkscape side by side. Since GNOME SUCKS there's no way to tell them apart...offhand, is there a way how to rename one...maybe a .desktop file edit or something? DON'T DO A SEARCH, IT' S MY PROBLEM. If you don't know a way off the top of your head, no worries! Thanks, pal! 2020-11-06 21-45-07 PST greytomorrow Thanks again 2020-11-19 08-45-14 PST greytomorrow I was gonna comment saying that the dialogs don't remember their positions from being restored from iconfication(?).... 2020-03-19 00-25-27 PDT greytomorrow Hello, Nathan...regarding your last message...duh   ...what does that mean? 2020-11-03 02-37-47 PST greytomorrow So, be forewarned! :ghost: I may bust your chops in the near future regarding how something works (or not) in Inkscape 2020-11-09 00-33-45 PST greytomorrow I was thinking of posting this question to INBOX but don't think it's exactly pertinent there...any ideas? 2020-12-01 08-34-21 PST greytomorrow You put too much faith in me, Nathan! See ya! 2020-09-08 22-14-07 PDT greytomorrow Sir, yes, SIR!  2020-04-07 04-58-37 PDT greytomorrow both pdfs have the fonts converted to outlines to show you exactly what I'm seeing 2020-11-27 04-44-37 PST greytomorrow That's what I thought (in fact I've got it open in another tab) 2020-04-07 04-59-57 PDT greytomorrow ah, okay! :+1: 2020-11-27 04-44-07 PST greytomorrow Changing the Select tool to px resolves the offset! 2020-04-07 05-03-12 PDT greytomorrow my pleasure! :+1: carry on. Oh, and thanks for clearing up the misunderstanding https://gitlab.com/inkscape/inbox/-/issues/2209 2020-11-19 08-45-33 PST greytomorrow but then I noticed in the latest dev, DIALOGS DON'T ICONIFY! 2020-11-27 04-47-32 PST greytomorrow Yeah, I would say so. I could never figure out why in some documents the offset exists 2020-11-19 08-56-21 PST greytomorrow Thanks for the clarification  2020-12-22 23-27-24 PST greytomorrow re: https://gitlab.com/inkscape/inbox/-/issues/4219 -- related?: https://gitlab.com/inkscape/inbox/-/issues/3784 ...and happy whatever, Nathan! 2020-11-19 09-01-12 PST greytomorrow LATER 2020-04-21 08-19-31 PDT greytomorrow Nathan, I'm about to reply to issue #2454 but before I do I just wanted to say something... 2020-09-06 23-13-21 PDT greytomorrow nathan 🦸 so sorry to bother you but how does one close an issue as duplicate? I just closed https://gitlab.com/inkscape/inbox/-/issues/3491 but it's just *Closed* as opposed to *Closed (Duplicate)*...I searched the GitLab docs but see nothing pertaining. 2020-04-02 10-13-29 PDT greytomorrow My results were like yours: file No 1 is invisible on open ungrouping and union seems to reslve the problem... 2020-04-07 04-37-09 PDT greytomorrow Nathan, re: inkscape#1178 you wrote... 2020-09-08 11-46-36 PDT greytomorrow THIS IS NOT A REPRIMAND IN ANY WAY! If you say "close it" I say "Sir, yes, sir!" I was just thinking more about those silly bug points. You found it, they're yours. Awaiting orders, sir, yes, SIR! 2020-11-19 08-56-58 PST greytomorrow especially since you opointed out the iconify and close widgets are misaligned 2020-11-03 02-36-33 PST greytomorrow So piece by piece when life allows I've been trying to put something... 2020-04-07 05-00-26 PDT greytomorrow  2020-04-02 10-16-03 PDT greytomorrow yes, you don't need to say it...if I don't fully understand the issue at hand, DON'T MIGRATE/CLOSE 2020-11-19 08-57-09 PST greytomorrow maybe you made somebody mad 2020-11-06 21-44-01 PST greytomorrow I just wanted to say THANK YOU and... 2020-04-07 04-38-32 PDT greytomorrow I wasn't sure if I should have responded there because, after reading that question too late, I did some further investigation... 2020-04-03 02-33-06 PDT greytomorrow Will try my best. Thank you. 2020-11-27 04-48-38 PST greytomorrow :+1:  2020-04-21 08-20-16 PDT greytomorrow Since the start of my, some would say, less-than-quiet participation here you have demonstrated yourself as knowledgable, helpful and friendly to me, regardless if we see things eye to eye or not (which itself has been rare). Your advice and encouragement have been most appreciated. So, I don't want you to think for one minute that anything I write in #2454 is aimed at you in any way. ¿Claro? 2020-04-03 01-44-40 PDT greytomorrow Nathan, much as I hate to admit it, I'm having trouble analyzing/summarizing. In your (esteemed) opinion, what's the real issue here? Which are the pertinent comments to be summarized? Nothing in that original file makes sense to me! Is it because there are path with only one point? Is it because path7968 is **way out in outer space**? I can't get a grasp on how any of this would affect the non-grouped objects. There's no connection here. 2020-11-19 09-01-06 PST greytomorrow uh...yeh. Well, as long as iconify comes back, i don't care if they're using Turbo Pascal 2020-11-06 21-43-49 PST greytomorrow Nathan, I just saw all of the issues that you split out/discovered from https://gitlab.com/inkscape/inbox/-/issues/3560 2020-11-03 02-39-37 PST greytomorrow I just wanted to say hello 2020-11-03 02-35-16 PST greytomorrow Whay does he hate me? 2020-11-03 02-34-57 PST greytomorrow A few weeks ago he said maybe I should work on documentation 2020-10-07 07-04-21 PDT greytomorrow NATHAN A LEE, I want you to know once again that, even though as of lately it seems I'm coming down heavy on the Inkscape project (especially with issues you seem to be fielding) NONE OF THIS IS TO BE TAKEN PERSONALLY!!! None of it is aimed at YOU! Y'unnerstan? YOU are one of the few professionals here and my appreciation of that cannot be understated. 2020-11-09 00-33-12 PST greytomorrow Is there some kind of naming scheme for dialogs in Inkscape? It appears to me that if it floats, it is referred to as a "dialog" and while that's not incorrect, presently there's no way to specify between dockable, non-modal dialogs and file requesters or warning dialogs, etc etc. 2020-11-09 02-51-05 PST greytomorrow I think I would refer to any dockable dialog with the inner titlebar, as you mentioned, "palettes" or even "inspectors"...but I don't seem to find either term used in any documentation (admittedly, I didn't look *that* hard)...they are *all* considered "dialogs"...which they *are*, but that's about as specific as calling them "windows". IN ANY CASE, thanks for your (always appreciated) input, Mr Lee! :sunny: 2020-10-19 23-14-54 PDT greytomorrow Closing that LP issue only as a courtesy to you and sorry, I didn't remember to return to that issue to close it (easily distracted  ). 2020-11-19 08-57-15 PST greytomorrow  2020-11-19 08-56-35 PST greytomorrow It would seem odd removing iconfiy 2020-09-20 06-32-02 PDT greytomorrow Well, thanks anyway, Nathan. I don't know what I'd do without you. Now if you'll excuse me I'm being called into the principal's office again... 2020-04-07 04-56-16 PDT greytomorrow possibly  and you may not have the fonts installed on your system 2020-11-19 08-44-15 PST greytomorrow HEY, NATHAAAAAAAAAN!!! 2020-09-07 00-21-02 PDT greytomorrow Thanks! What would I do without you?! 2020-11-03 02-39-22 PST greytomorrow But seriously, I was told no one is working on docs these days 2020-04-07 04-58-44 PDT greytomorrow when you get a minute... 2020-04-02 10-13-39 PDT greytomorrow file No 2 I don't know what's going on with that! 2020-04-02 10-15-30 PDT greytomorrow the main reason I migrated is that I felt I was missing some detail somewhere and better to migrate than to assume the problem was resolved (as it seems to be). 2020-04-02 10-17-07 PDT greytomorrow I leave it to you to decide whether to close or not 2020-11-19 08-44-34 PST greytomorrow I was just looking at yr https://gitlab.com/inkscape/inbox/-/issues/4036 2020-04-07 04-56-46 PDT greytomorrow Text_and_Font.svg (https://chat.inkscape.org/file-upload/ybJRRQ4xH2u8WgNRn/Text_and_Font.svg) 2020-12-01 08-24-11 PST greytomorrow ??? Thanks...but what does that even **mean**? Did you forget I'm stupid? 2020-11-03 02-39-28 PST greytomorrow whatever 2020-04-02 10-14-35 PDT greytomorrow file no 3 works as expected (?)...at least it's visible 2020-04-21 10-13-20 PDT greytomorrow Nathan A Lee, you're the greatest  2020-11-19 09-01-15 PST greytomorrow and thanks! 2020-09-08 11-44-31 PDT greytomorrow Nathan A Lee...I've looking at https://gitlab.com/inkscape/inbox/-/issues/2061 for days now...and you're thinking "Yeah? So what?" BUT you mention that big, fat bug-migration issue https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/170257...yet you didn't close it...I'm wondering why. 2020-11-06 21-44-50 PST greytomorrow I hope the Owners here are at least acknowledging how much you do here!!! :+1: 2020-04-07 04-57-00 PDT greytomorrow Text_and_Font.pdf (https://chat.inkscape.org/file-upload/JboCS6avfPBTsz6tc/Text_and_Font.pdf) 2020-11-03 02-32-08 PST greytomorrow Nathan, do you ever sleep? How are you doing? It's been a while since I've had the pleasure of working directly with you. 2020-11-09 00-31-11 PST greytomorrow Listen, Nathan...I have a (of course, pedantic) question and would appreciate your opinion when you have a free moment... 2020-10-19 23-16-35 PDT greytomorrow I don't even remember the issue that sparked my message to you on the 7th :white_frowning_face: 2020-04-07 04-56-38 PDT greytomorrow here we go 2020-12-01 08-33-56 PST greytomorrow Well, thanks for the explanation...I should probably go over to #team_testing and have a look 2020-09-19 02-24-58 PDT greytomorrow And BTW hope you're doing well, ~causing trouble~ having fun and making money away from your computer! 2020-09-13 00-54-53 PDT greytomorrow Wait! One last question...how does Nathan A. Lee handles this situation? Do you just live with it or what? 2020-03-19 00-38-21 PDT greytomorrow Ah...I get it! ###Steps to Reproduce ###What happened? etc etc, right? 2020-04-20 11-22-07 PDT greytomorrow Hey, Nathan! Regarding that Windows backtrace, does one have to navigate to /Inkscape 1.0beta2/bin first or can you just run that backtraceblahblahblah.bat from wherever? 2020-04-07 04-57-25 PDT greytomorrow Text_and_Font_2.pdf (https://chat.inkscape.org/file-upload/AbZpBQwzrEJqhEmHz/Text_and_Font_2.pdf) 2020-11-27 04-45-02 PST greytomorrow But the only problem is mine is a Wacom and I'm on the Mac 2020-11-19 08-44-19 PST greytomorrow  2020-11-27 04-41-40 PST greytomorrow Nathan, are you there? I've discovered something regarding tablets not being synced to their cursor position...I know there are reported issues but I'm not sure where to report my finding. 2020-04-07 04-39-35 PDT greytomorrow If you don't mind I'd like to send you four files (two svgs with their pdf counterparts) 2020-04-07 05-00-21 PDT greytomorrow great...for a minute there I had thought I missed something the first go-around 2020-11-09 00-30-15 PST greytomorrow Awww...knock it off! There's a huge difference between migrating bugs and what you're doing! 🧠 2020-11-27 04-46-07 PST greytomorrow I know it's already at least mentioned somewhere before...I'll keep looking...otherwise...I can't exactly file a new issue as this resolves an existing issue...no? 2020-09-19 02-23-35 PDT greytomorrow Oh, genie of the lamp 🧞‍♂️ as far as you know (and you know everything!) is there a way to search GitLab not by Author not by Commenter? I've been searching GitLab docs for a week now (besides the usual websearches) and I find nothing...one would then assume that you can't but I know you know something! 2020-11-03 02-50-51 PST greytomorrow Or maybe Inkscape's always been in low maintanence? Still a bit iffy on how Inkscape manages to get stuff done on 100% volunteer power. Oooh...haven't you learned already not to get me going on certain polemic issues!   It's a question that's been rolling around in my mind for a while now. BUT we'll put that aside for now. You have a wonderful day and I'll talk to you soon! 2020-09-13 00-36-48 PDT greytomorrow No problem! Thanks anyway! I'm off to stackexchange! 2020-11-03 02-39-05 PST greytomorrow hahahahaha...see, I  the written word...that's why I was suckered into this so easily! 2020-11-19 08-45-41 PST greytomorrow Was that the plan? 2020-04-07 04-37-28 PDT greytomorrow With way of replicability, I'm curious if you tested the issue with the Text and Font dialog or not. 2020-11-03 02-34-16 PST greytomorrow Besides washing face masks and avoiding people more than usual? Not much really... 2020-04-20 11-28-01 PDT greytomorrow Thank you, Nathan! 2020-04-02 17-48-25 PDT Nathan Lee yes, there's still an issue there, and its fine to migrate after testing the issue and still replicating. However, you should summarise the comments. The issue should describe the bug as it exists (its not really important to migrate the already fixed bug). From the comments, I gather that the issue is already fixed, but there is a problem with one of the existing paths that breaks rendering on canvas (so, unrelated to unioning or at least unrelated to the number of shapes). Could you edit the description to address this? 2020-11-19 08-51-18 PST Nathan Lee I don't know, may be a regression, planned, or a time constraint in development (I think this is the uber issue https://gitlab.com/inkscape/ux/-/issues/38) 2020-04-07 04-52-32 PDT Nathan Lee sure. Why pdf? Is there another issue here? 2020-04-21 08-42-48 PDT Nathan Lee nevermind, I figured it out  No crosswires, just butting heads :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes: 2020-11-09 02-26-40 PST Nathan Lee I suppose all dialogs are just called dialogs, with the name of dialog used to differentiate them. I'm not aware of a official naming scheme used to differentiate the Fill and stroke dialog from the dialogs created by extensions or warning dialogs, though dialogs like the Fill & Stroke dialog are sometimes called palettes (and if you just say dialogs, I'd assume you're talking about these but not the warning dialogs, depending on context of course) For the palettes, they can be open in 3 states: floating (when in floating mode), and docked and undocked (for non-floating mode). You could throw the question up in the forums or here in the chat and see if anyone uses something more specific  2020-09-01 22-54-31 PDT Nathan Lee Before I forget again, just added you to the bug wranglers team. 2020-04-21 08-26-15 PDT Nathan Lee Of course, and thank you for your kind words. Participation can't be quiet of course, and I appreciate you stepping in to help wrangle all these bugs. 2020-11-27 04-49-24 PST Nathan Lee no problem :p 2020-03-18 14-27-28 PDT Nathan Lee Hey, just a heads up. For bug migration, remember to fit the old bug into the gitlab template where appropriate (e.g. bug reports). I'm not on a computer right now so I can't help confirm them btw. Just wanted to let you know early on. Thanks for helping out with the migration! 2020-04-03 01-51-17 PDT Nathan Lee So the real issue would be that "path7968 is *way out in outer space*" (simply because the other one has already been fixed and we don't care about that issue anymore) 2020-09-13 00-58-40 PDT Nathan Lee I guess, I personally launch Inkscape from the terminal. I don't have many conflicts (just Inkscape and maybe GIMP, but I couldn't care which version of GIMP is opened). I actually launch master with the short command `ink`. I google most things and otherwise keep a very plain desktop. 2020-11-03 02-36-12 PST Nathan Lee Hey, it's just the natural next step :) 2020-11-03 02-38-19 PST Nathan Lee Oh? What's wrong with docs? Besides the natural hatred for the written word  2020-11-03 02-33-10 PST Nathan Lee Of course, wdym :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes: I'm good, how are you? What have you been up to? 2020-11-08 07-09-21 PST Nathan Lee Thanks again for the kind words! :hugging: And thank *you* for migrating all those issues over to GitLab. I don't notice it enough, but you've knocked out a huge chunk of the bug reports 2020-12-01 06-12-32 PST Nathan Lee Just an fyi, we're trying compile a blocker list for 1.1 in #team_testing . It'll take place over weeks, but should be a chance to make sure issues don't slip through the cracks. 2020-04-21 08-28-20 PDT Nathan Lee oh, actually, I think we're at crosswires at 2454  more details in the reply 2020-11-27 04-44-18 PST Nathan Lee You can probably add a comment to https://gitlab.com/inkscape/inkscape/-/issues/2047 2020-04-03 01-50-23 PDT Nathan Lee I'm not sure what the issue is (I haven't read through all the comments in detail). Since I can't replicate comment #5, I would remove that file from the description and only focus on the comments from #8 onwards (particularly since it seems the original issue is fixed) 2020-04-03 02-43-22 PDT Nathan Lee Thanks, it helps as it means we don't need to refer back to the original issue to parse what the issue is. For bug migration, we only care about the existing issues, and generally can ignore any fixed ones in a report (it might be helpful to briefly mention the old bug). 2020-10-19 15-22-10 PDT Nathan Lee Thanks for the message, that applies in both directions of course! Sorry for the ironically slow response, I thought I did reply :cold_sweat: Only opened this chat again because I closed an issues before realizing you marked it as bug-migration. Feel free to steal the credit: https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/1746054 2020-12-23 02-10-06 PST Nathan Lee Happy holidays! :fireworks: Unfortunately issues unrelated, comparing backtraces. 2020-09-12 23-33-50 PDT Nathan Lee sorry, it's something you'd need google for (though I do think a .desktop file what you'll need to change). Probably changing the ppa version is easier. 2020-04-07 04-59-23 PDT Nathan Lee just a glance at the pdfs, looks like what I expect/get with the (unfixed) issue. 2020-09-01 22-57-48 PDT Nathan Lee I should have added you months ages ago! Documentation found at https://gitlab.com/inkscape/inbox/-/blob/master/Guidelines.md . It needs to be updated, if you have any questions, feel free to ask on #bug_migration You should be able to assign labels now, and move issues once they have been confirmed and are bugs 2020-09-01 22-59-38 PDT Nathan Lee And you should be able to request membership to https://inkscape.org/*issue/ (just to show that you're part of the team) 2020-11-27 04-47-01 PST Nathan Lee well, having different units in your tools shouldn't cause any problems (you've found a workaround, but it's still a bug if i understand correctly). 2020-12-01 08-32-07 PST Nathan Lee We're going through the bugs in inkscape/inkscape and noting the ones that need to be fixed for 1.1 (otherwise the release doesn't happen). We have importance labels already, but this is meant to provide a non-developer perspective, and also be more specific. See https://chat.inkscape.org/channel/team_testing?msg=iLhq9mRjrutZTDS27 for my post about it. () 2020-03-19 00-57-37 PDT Nathan Lee Yup 😁 2020-09-19 18-11-43 PDT Nathan Lee Not that I know of unfortunately. If you use the search at the very top of the page, you can search through the comments though (but certain phrases time out) 2020-04-20 11-25-54 PDT Nathan Lee you can double-click to run the file (but you'd still need to navigate to the folder). 2020-04-07 05-01-08 PDT Nathan Lee Thanks for checking for me. It confused me that there wasn't full replication earlier (was there another issue!) 2020-11-27 04-45-18 PST Nathan Lee was about to say, I'm not entirely sure it's not just another bug altogether  2020-12-01 08-33-05 PST Nathan Lee oops, didn't realize it'd comment it! Going to head offline in a few minutes. 2020-04-21 08-31-04 PDT Nathan Lee actually, maybe not? could you discuss here in chat. 2020-04-21 08-33-10 PDT Nathan Lee Is the issue the ratio between the blue and the red, or the red and the green? 2020-09-07 00-05-33 PDT Nathan Lee just add a comment with `/duplicate issuelink` in a new line at the bottom :) 2020-11-19 09-06-22 PST Nathan Lee sure :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes: sorry I couldn't give a straightforward answer and cya 2020-11-19 08-58-30 PST Nathan Lee nah, this is the new dialog system I mentioned earlier. No longer uses GDL, I think that allows us to port to gtk4 easier or just because gdl isn't actively maintained 2020-04-21 08-32-46 PDT Nathan Lee Glyphs_dialog.png (https://chat.inkscape.org/file-upload/S8KDr6dtAGtCwcvWc/Glyphs_dialog.png) 2020-11-03 02-41-59 PST Nathan Lee I guess, if I understand correctly, Inkscape's been in low maintanence for while as a lot of boring dev work had to be done for gtk3 migration. Or maybe Inkscape's always been in low maintanence? Still a bit iffy on how Inkscape manages to get stuff done on 100% volunteer power. Good to talk to you :) Hope your day's good 2020-09-08 16-32-05 PDT Nathan Lee Big and fat? That's probably why I didn't migrate it :stuck_out_tongue: If I link to it to an issue, feel free to migrate it yourself, I'm not tracking those issues at all

2020-08-18 10-47-17 PDT greytomorrow Thanks, Jonathan! Have a nice evening. 2020-09-02 02-34-04 PDT greytomorrow If you like, I'll close them, no problem (unless you feel they should remain open)....or I'll just leave them as they are. Your call. 2020-03-18 02-51-06 PDT greytomorrow I'm the boy from nowhere 2020-08-18 10-41-55 PDT greytomorrow And I'm sorry I even asked my question there...I didn't mean to muddy up that issue with my off-topic question. But I saw the new labeling system (as you know, I was there for the Hackfest this last Saturday) and while most of the labels are clear in their meanings, ~"needs design" was unclear to me. 2020-08-18 10-45-43 PDT greytomorrow I parsed as...who knows?...something less literal 2020-09-02 02-29-54 PDT greytomorrow https://gitlab.com/inkscape/inbox/-/issues/286 2020-03-28 04-41-25 PDT greytomorrow yeah, well...ok. :slight_frown: 2020-09-02 02-30-42 PDT greytomorrow ...and I was wondering, how come you didn't close those LaunchPad issues, being as you practically migrated them to GitLab? 2020-04-07 04-48-28 PDT greytomorrow I also misunderstood the request...that is, if Nathan interpreted the request correctly. 2020-04-07 04-35-27 PDT greytomorrow No no...I understood the migrated issue...IMHO a fringe-case request, useless in the grand scheme of things...again, the only reason I migrated it was because I was told not to close Wishlist issues on LaunchPad, otherwise, believe me, I would have closed it then and there. :fire: 2020-09-16 01-11-32 PDT greytomorrow Gut morgen, Dott Hofinger! :coffee: I hate bothering you with this...do you think that if I link to the pertinent wiki pages you linked to in https://gitlab.com/inkscape/inbox/-/issues/1465 in my "CLOSING: Invalid" comments, do you think I could finally close the vast sprawl known as https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/171128? 2020-03-18 03-01-28 PDT greytomorrow Thanks 2020-03-18 02-52-18 PDT greytomorrow :D 2020-08-18 10-44-54 PDT greytomorrow well, thanks! 2020-08-18 10-39-18 PDT greytomorrow Ciao, Jonathan! I'm writing you here instead of replying in https://gitlab.com/inkscape/inbox/-/issues/2376#note_397764592 2020-09-02 02-29-10 PDT greytomorrow Hello, Jonathan! How are you? 2020-04-07 04-40-08 PDT greytomorrow Anyway...back to work! :+1: 2020-08-18 10-44-45 PDT greytomorrow Ah! Ok...so it literally means "NEEDS DESIGN"! 2020-09-02 02-32-49 PDT greytomorrow This is NOT an reprimand of any kind but I didn't want to "steal" any Bug Migration points from you by closing those two issue myself! 2020-04-19 12-31-52 PDT greytomorrow Hello, Jonathan! Listen, regarding inbox #1583, I was just kidding with you! I didn't really expect you to jump in three months ago! Your explanations weren't AFAIC necessary! 2020-04-19 12-45-19 PDT greytomorrow ah 2020-03-28 04-39-36 PDT greytomorrow But if may, how is it when I search for duplicate issues, nothing pertinent ever shows up for me?! 2020-03-28 04-41-46 PDT greytomorrow Thanks 2020-08-18 10-46-44 PDT greytomorrow just kidding! 2020-03-18 02-52-12 PDT greytomorrow no, sorry...english is my language 2020-09-21 12-01-08 PDT greytomorrow Dott Hofinger  , thank you for the kind words earlier. My only wish is that I could work with more people like you and @nathanal and @c.rogers  2020-09-21 12-10-19 PDT greytomorrow I will think about it, thank you 2020-09-16 11-40-51 PDT greytomorrow Hofinger, I just can't leave you alone, can I? 2020-04-19 22-58-30 PDT greytomorrow Ah, good morning! :sunny: Anyway, even though the main motive for contributing here is ultimately to better Inkscape, I didn't realize one has to be solemn. Okay, enough...time to make coffee! Have a wonderful day! 2020-09-29 22-46-13 PDT greytomorrow 🎉🥂🍾🎊 CONGRATULATIONS, Jonathan Neuhauser!!! BEST WISHES! ❤️❤️ 2020-09-02 02-29-38 PDT greytomorrow I was looking at the bugs over at LaunchPad...and I came across this page... 2020-09-29 11-07-30 PDT greytomorrow Jonathan...I hope I'm not crossing any boundaries here and I hope you don't mind me asking...but what's up with the surname change? You can always tell me "mind your own business, Grey." 2020-03-28 04-40-32 PDT greytomorrow Nothing regarding this issue 2020-04-07 04-47-54 PDT greytomorrow I stand corrected apparently... 2020-03-18 02-48-35 PDT greytomorrow Good morning, Jonathan...I'm having an existential crisis regarding this bug migration  ...I may be overthinking this but... 2020-09-16 04-32-40 PDT greytomorrow oh, you know me...i have no such qualms! 2020-09-16 04-32-51 PDT greytomorrow thank you 2020-04-07 03-59-23 PDT greytomorrow Yeah, I realize it may come off as a little...passionate. No zoom in the dialog, otherwise the font-size preview is rendered useless. I hate to play this card but that's 40 years in the business from someone who used to set lead type by hand. I don't want to reach in the 12pt drawer to pull out 72pt. 2020-04-19 12-51-30 PDT greytomorrow And just so to know in the future, in your esteemed opinion, where do I come off as "harsh"? I usually don't bite until provoked  2020-04-19 22-51-42 PDT greytomorrow See, Jonathan, you've interpreted it all wrong. That was 100% sarcasm-free. I do respect your opinion, highly. In the two-ish months since you invited me to do bug-migration, you've demonstrated yourself as some that knows their business...as opposed to the one-handed little boys with their trivial whims in the linked issue! 2020-03-18 02-49-09 PDT greytomorrow What about issues pertaining to earlier versions of Inkscape? Should I test against just 1beta02 (Inkscape-latest) or should I also test against 0.92.4? What about "Wishlist" issues? How do I decide what to migrate and what to close? Is there a "expiration date" I should adhere to? Maybe some other criteria? Any advice or suggestions are most welcome. I really would like to help out here but I don't want to create more work for you and the migration team. 2020-03-19 01-41-09 PDT greytomorrow Thank you, Jonathan, for adding the 0.92.x in issue #2069 title...I'll remember that in the future (when pertinent). 2020-04-19 12-44-18 PDT greytomorrow you mean "Ctrl is used to restrict an operation..."? 2020-03-28 04-40-17 PDT greytomorrow Case in point: this very example...before submitting I did a search for "font panel" IIRC... 2020-09-16 11-41-23 PDT greytomorrow Listen, a quick question...is Adam Belis the head of the UX/UI team or something? 2020-08-18 10-46-05 PDT greytomorrow I guess I was overthinking it 2020-09-16 11-42-51 PDT greytomorrow Thanks, pal! 2020-03-18 06-15-28 PDT greytomorrow Oh, okay...actually, no problem! 2020-03-18 05-50-29 PDT greytomorrow Excuse me, Jonathan...sorry to bother you but how does one label issues? I must be doing something wrong as every time I add /~"xxxx" it comes out as a comment :slight_frown: 2020-08-18 10-46-40 PDT greytomorrow Well, I should go over there and ask them what does ~"needs design" mean! 2020-09-16 11-43-00 PDT greytomorrow yeah, the iconset i know 2020-09-02 08-10-56 PDT greytomorrow :+1: No problem! My pleasure. 2020-04-19 12-48-05 PDT greytomorrow Yeah, that's a tough one. I too have had times where with reflowed text I would've liked the Select tool to "reflow" instead of resize/scale/distort...it's a good idea but off the top of my head, hard to implement without some thorough thought...I'm guessing you HAVE given it some thought? 2020-03-28 04-33-47 PDT greytomorrow Hello, Jonathan. I just saw your reply in my email. I will change the issue (as well as post another bug regarding the Glyphs panel)...but it appears GitLab is down for maintenance. 2020-09-16 11-43-21 PDT greytomorrow Thanks again 2020-09-16 11-42-44 PDT greytomorrow :+1: 2020-03-18 03-01-23 PDT greytomorrow :+1: 2020-11-03 02-45-50 PST greytomorrow Hallo, Jonathan Neuhauser! Are you still using this account? 2020-09-16 11-42-23 PDT jhofinger He never has been appointed officially, but he fits the description. 2020-04-19 21-57-05 PDT jhofinger [ ](https://chat.inkscape.org/direct/greytomorrow?msg=EeXpbWRinfSFXHe5X) Maybe it's my English, but at least for me, "esteemed" in this context sounds like sarcasm. And https://gitlab.com/inkscape/inbox/-/issues/1583#note_326831931. () 2020-04-07 02-45-42 PDT jhofinger That's a strong opinion if I ever read one 😅 I'd still say if the zoom factor is displayed in the dialog, it would be fine. But the entire dialog needs a revamp, that I agree with. 2020-03-18 02-51-54 PDT jhofinger I wasn't spying on your location, but if you were German, we could task in German 2020-04-07 04-00-25 PDT jhofinger Alright, makes sense. But it seems we both misunderstood the issue. 2020-04-19 23-03-39 PDT jhofinger Have a nice day! 2020-08-18 10-45-14 PDT jhofinger yes, exactly. How did you understand it? 2020-08-18 10-48-29 PDT jhofinger You too :) 2020-09-29 23-18-04 PDT jhofinger Thanks 😊 2020-08-18 10-48-22 PDT jhofinger Clipboard - August 18, 2020 7:48 PM (https://chat.inkscape.org/file-upload/gtjx5jwYEGd34dSb5/Clipboard%20-%20Aug…) 2020-04-19 21-53-18 PDT jhofinger [ ](https://chat.inkscape.org/direct/greytomorrow?msg=NaqLwdNZRhH3xSSeC) Maybe there could be a modifier in the select tool that applies the transform only to the shape-inside. But that's a special behavior once again () 2020-09-16 11-41-11 PDT jhofinger Glad to help, as always :) 2020-03-18 02-59-12 PDT jhofinger - You can migrate everything, also wishlist items, and there is no expiration date - fill out the issue template on gitlab completely - when you migrate, try to separate issues. When a bug report consists of five different bugs, put them all in a separate issue on Gitlab - in the end of you report, copy relevant information from the original report as quotes, especially in what Inkscape Versions the bug has been reproduced - only migrate bugs that you can replicate yourself in 1.0alpha. You can migrate issues that occur only in 0.92.x, with a tag [0.92.x], but please test against a current build of that branch. I usually just close them, that's up to you - for whishlist issues, prefer those which are clearly worded and are, to quote Patrick, actionable That's at least what I do. Cou can look for the ones I migrated, by searching author=@jhofinger in Inbox (Esp. The closed ones) 2020-04-19 22-53-42 PDT jhofinger Okay. Maybe I'm just not used to people using adjectives that way. :) thanks for the compliment! 2020-08-18 10-46-08 PDT jhofinger I took the wording directly from the GIMP tracker. 2020-04-19 12-38-48 PDT jhofinger Okay. I just felt like explaining why I *chose* not to interact with this issue. 2020-03-18 02-52-52 PDT jhofinger Alright, I was just wondering! Np 2020-03-28 04-40-58 PDT jhofinger It's normal to miss an issue here and there, no worries. I try to limit the search query to very simple words like - in this case - font list text 2020-09-16 11-42-46 PDT jhofinger He's a designer that has been around for some while, done some great design work and is e.g. responsible for the multicolor iconset in 1.0 2020-09-16 04-28-55 PDT jhofinger Guten Morgen :) yeah, I think that all the information is in my "super-issue" #1465. Was my first issue in inkscape/inbox, so I was a bit hesitant to close stuff yet. 2020-09-02 06-59-24 PDT jhofinger Oh good catch! Upon second reading, they should be closed. If you have time for it, i'd be grateful :) 2020-09-21 12-03-04 PDT jhofinger I was wondering if you wanted to contribute by writing more documentation? I think this would be super helpful as well. You might have more contact to people like doctormo, patrick or maren 2020-08-18 10-44-02 PDT jhofinger "needs design" is intended as a request to OP to draw up some sketches or at least write down how the feature would look like. If the UX team wants to work on an issue, they should instead pull it from Inbox to their repo. 2020-08-18 10-48-26 PDT jhofinger ;) 2020-03-18 06-09-35 PDT jhofinger Someone needs to add you to the group who has access to labeling. For the Moment, let me and Nathan handle this 2020-08-18 10-43-08 PDT jhofinger Then maybe we can come up with a definition that is self-explanatory? The idea was to get rid of the "UX" tag. Currently, it is used for "this is bad user experience", "this needs design" and "the ux team is actively working on it". That's not cool. 2020-09-29 22-38-43 PDT jhofinger Well it's because my actual last name changed :) got married last week 2020-04-19 12-44-44 PDT jhofinger No, I mean resize = reflow for texts 2020-04-19 12-43-01 PDT jhofinger Also, what do you think of my interpretation of the issue at hand (the first bullet point)? 2020-03-28 04-34-11 PDT jhofinger Yeah, looks like it 2020-03-18 02-50-24 PDT jhofinger Good questions! Where are you from, BTW? You mentioned Europe and have. German word in your profile picture 2020-04-19 12-39-42 PDT jhofinger Sometimes, you're indeed coming off as a bit harsh. Maybe you can try to keep that in mind. 😉 but I value your input!

2020-09-16 04-59-57 PDT greytomorrow I suggest you use spellcheck 2020-09-16 04-54-53 PDT greytomorrow I'm writing you here because I didn't want to pollute the issue over on GitLab 2020-09-16 11-53-54 PDT greytomorrow I'm gonna make this very simple so a "Proffesional Idiot" like you can understand. Check any comments/replies I've made to you in the various issues on GitLab. Tell me how many times I've shown you a lack of common courtesy or respect. I may have responded jokingly, but never have I dismissed offhand any issue/idea you have presented nor disrespected you as you did to me. I expect the same common courtesy from you or anyone. I will not be dismissed by someone I don't know personally with vague buzzwords and equally vague criticism (twice now). In other words, to be buried under an avalanche of bullshit like your reply was. If I were you, I'd go to the issue in question and edit my response to simply "@greytomorrow, thanks for working on this." Period. That's what a "normal" person would do. Have I made myself clear? BTW, it's "professional." Use your spellchecker. You are making a fool of yourself worldwide. Consider this a gift. > I don't really appreciate your passive-aggressive tone in this message... That's because I wanted to keep it civil. You don't want "aggressive". > i am not Spanish 😃 or really speak Spanish that much I just lived there for few years :D Your ArtStation page says "Barcellona." How I am supposed to know you're not Spanish? You certainly aren't a native English speaker. I'm done. Don't reply. I no longer care what you have to say. 2020-09-16 04-58-46 PDT greytomorrow but i cannot find it right now With all due respect, how many times have I heard that in my illustrious career. Honestly, as I said to Jonathan, *do what you will with it*. But don't insult my intelligence with your *allau de merda*. I wasn't hoping anything really, just offering up some ideas that you all may appropriate/cannibalize as needed or not. 2020-09-16 04-58-10 PDT greytomorrow we need to look at this problem from the macro-level how to organize this and make this more user friendly. *What?!* I have to ask: from where did you steal this buzzword-laden sentence from? 2020-09-16 04-58-34 PDT greytomorrow i think i did some sketches for paint server... NIH syndrome? You sat on this issue for a year, I just discovered it last night while looking for unrelated duplicate issues. As @jhofinger said... > This is basically our swatches panel done right... Thank you, Jonathan. I did use the `Swatches` dialog as a starting point, while appropriating the `Unicode Characters…` undocumented tooltip idea for each Style's description. 2020-09-16 04-57-08 PDT greytomorrow Your design is not very consistent with how other dialogs work and look in inkscape we need to try to keep UI constant @adam.belis, *proffesional idiot* (that's what you wrote on your ArtStation page), I beg to differ. I didn't invent anything novel with this proposal; every paradigm is taken directly from Inkscape's present UI. In fact, *if* it were ever to be implemented, I'm betting *nobody* would notice anything inconsistent. 2020-09-16 04-57-53 PDT greytomorrow I'm not sure I follow your logic regarding your list of "librabris in general". I sincerely hope you are not suggesting to incorporate all these disparate elements into **one mega-dialog** or **mega-library**. But, honestly, that's neither here nor there and unimportant to me; it's there just to pad your reply. 2020-09-29 00-24-34 PDT greytomorrow https://gitlab.com/inkscape/inbox/-/issues/3739#note_419900000 This is merely (once again) your opinion. **Please stop presenting your opinions as "facts".** Constantly writing "I don't like it" in every issue you don't like personally adds **nothing** to the discourse. If you care to add some analytical criticism or citations why you don't think "idea X" wouldn't work, that would be an great improvement. If you continue your present behavior, I **will** present a list of every time you've dismissed ideas without much more than "I don't like it." 2020-09-16 04-54-25 PDT greytomorrow Belis...tenim un problema 2020-09-16 04-59-33 PDT greytomorrow Awaiting your reply 2020-09-16 04-56-32 PDT greytomorrow https://gitlab.com/inkscape/inbox/-/issues/869#note_413512593 2020-09-16 12-19-32 PDT Adam Belis once again you are reading my replays way to negatively and personally. I am not dismissing you even in this issue I just saying my POW i am not even saying i am right its just my opinion. Wich has the same weight as yours I don't mind looking like a fool I don't take myself so seriously :) but thanks for the concern. For sure I am not a native English speaker heh even my written Slovak (native) language is not the best. 2020-09-29 03-09-13 PDT Adam Belis i told you few times already. Its my opinion. why do you think i present it as a fact ? In your opinion , how could i better express that is my opinion ? 2020-09-16 05-44-30 PDT Adam Belis I have a feeling you took my comment personally. so first ..., I didn't mean to insult you so I am sorry if it sounded like that. Just saying I see design problems with it dont take it personally its just a design not you :) . Just to simplify: - The current system how we handle assets ( swatches, gradients, markers, etc ) in Inkscape is flawed and I would like to solve it as a whole system (one big problem ) (macro-level) - yes, you used UI which is already in ink but you used it in a way that is not consistent with the rest of Inkscape. most of the editing is done on canvas for example, not in pop up dialogs - you started with swatches design which would be good. but this dialog is very user-unfriendly and fundamentally broken already and needs a redesign - for a print server, there is no NIH syndrome for me currently I don't like how paint server works and I did not work on it but its something that has the potential to fix all big problems, and its halfway there that's why I suggested looking into that Just a side note I don't really appreciate your passive-aggressive tone in this message and would like to have a much nicer conversation in the future. PS: i am not Spanish :D or really speak Spanish that much I just lived there for few years :D

2020-09-14 03-56-58 PDT greytomorrow Good morning, Thomas. I do hate to bother you with this but I'd like to close/migrate a LaunchPad bug that *appears* to be related to an issue you closed on GitLab. Unfortunately, the Launchpad issue goes beyond my understanding. When you have a free moment, would you have a look at https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/1618594 and see if it has been fixed by https://gitlab.com/inkscape/inkscape/-/issues/325 . Thank you very much. 2020-09-14 07-24-47 PDT greytomorrow Thomas, thanks very much for having a look. Much appreciated. 2020-09-14 06-35-56 PDT Thomas Holder The launchpad bug report is very incomplete and insufficient, it doesn't provide (all) steps to reproduce and doesn't clearly say what "not working" means. I suggest to close it with "Status: Incomplete" 2020-09-14 05-53-33 PDT Thomas Holder I think the issues are not related. The issue I fixed was a regression of the y-axis inversion which I implemented in 2018. The launchpad issue is much older.

2020-08-25 07-37-59 PDT Valentin Ionita Specifically, I'd like to remove the set_floating check (and the variable) completely from the `void DialogNotebook::on_drag_end()` function 2020-08-25 07-41-32 PDT Valentin Ionita PS, this should have a strange behavior (It does on my machine, will explain later), but no crash here 2020-08-25 07-37-03 PDT Valentin Ionita Is there any way I can convince you to build my branch yourself with a modification? I want to test a behavior 2020-08-25 07-41-04 PDT Valentin Ionita ok, but because this is just a test, I'll make another branch with another merge request to make sure appveyor uses this 2020-08-25 07-43-03 PDT Valentin Ionita https://ci.appveyor.com/project/inkscape/inkscape/builds/34843636 2020-08-25 07-49-54 PDT Valentin Ionita Have to close shop for today, but will read your replies whenever, on the phone 2020-08-25 07-40-23 PDT Patrick Yes, I can do that. I just resort to AppVeyor builds as it saves some time (I only have a two-core Notebook here) 2020-08-25 16-44-28 PDT Patrick Test result with https://ci.appveyor.com/project/inkscape/inkscape/builds/34843956: Unfortunately no apparent difference :-( 2020-08-25 07-45-36 PDT Patrick OK, will give it a try later!
