2020-04-27 09-41-45 PDTC.Rogers <cajhne@gmail.com>Yes, I think we'll leave it open. You can also email me at cajhne@gmail.com anytime if you have questions or concerns.
2020-04-27 06-37-51 PDTC.Rogers <cajhne@gmail.com>You asked if you'd overstepped your bounds, and I wanted to address that privately with you to help clear things up, if you have questions. :)
2020-04-27 06-36-11 PDTC.Rogers <cajhne@gmail.com>Hi! :)
2020-04-27 09-42-22 PDTC.Rogers <cajhne@gmail.com>And again, thanks for keeping an eye out for us. :)
2020-04-27 09-32-57 PDTC.Rogers <cajhne@gmail.com>You're spot on about calling a moderator about it, though. :) There's not really much need to address the person directly if they are not behaving. Seldom does it do anything but escalate. People gotta calm down first.
2020-04-27 06-36-50 PDTC.Rogers <cajhne@gmail.com>Just wanted to touch base on the "incident" we discussed privately a few days ago.
2020-04-27 09-41-05 PDTC.Rogers <cajhne@gmail.com>My pleasure. Inkscape has always been a welcoming group of people for me, and it's my pleasure to help preserve that for others too.
2020-04-27 09-38-37 PDTC.Rogers <cajhne@gmail.com>Thanks for your help in the situation, and joining the discussion on it. :) Hope you had a great weekend despite the drama.
2020-04-27 09-31-27 PDTC.Rogers <cajhne@gmail.com>Yes. As an unwritten rule, we don't tell people they aren't welcome. It's fine to ask them to leave if they are misbehaving, but no one in the project has the authority to tell people they are not welcome in the forums, or in the project. It's how we preserve our reputation as being freindly and open to everyone (even if they are violating the CoC, which frankly, everyone does from time to time).
2020-04-27 09-40-29 PDTWindell Oskay <windell@evilmadscientist.com>Can you leave the #private_coc channel open, or create a #mod_request channel, or some other routine method for some of us or all of us to request mod help when needed?
2020-04-27 09-13-27 PDTWindell Oskay <windell@evilmadscientist.com>Hey, thanks. In retrospect, I should have waited until I was able to recall who to summon for moderation, rather than directly engaging. In the moment, the language that I saw being used was well past unacceptable, and I felt partial responsibility for shutting it down immediately.
2020-04-27 09-39-58 PDTWindell Oskay <windell@evilmadscientist.com>And, thank you for all of your hard and teeth grinding work this.
2020-04-27 09-43-12 PDTWindell Oskay <windell@evilmadscientist.com>Thanks!
