2019-09-20 21-25-35 PDT | Nathan Johansen <nathan@npj.com> | I'd like to create a more open market for this kind of work to provide people with solutions ... much of it is simple enough and can enable some income flow. |

2019-09-21 09-35-28 PDT | Nathan Johansen <nathan@npj.com> | Oh, did those not link to the specific sections? On the first: `codesign`, `productbuild`, and `xcrun altool`. On the second: `pkgbuild` and `productsign` steps. (Sorry, that was probably too vague to convey any message the first time...) ;) |
2020-05-04 09-38-47 PDT | Nathan Johansen <nathan@npj.com> | Like if you're typing in a text box, and are making corrections after trying to place a special character that requires holding down an odd key combination, then backspacing ... |
2019-06-17 00-39-30 PDT | Nathan Johansen <nathan@npj.com> | Also, despite there being notes on this in the team_devel_mac (if you search for: "iconv") we removed it from the notes on the website (Issue #84 and I think on another issue where it came up as a "fix") and as far as I know, we're keeping that under our hat so that others do not go around fiddling with creating circular symbolic links to "nothing" on their files system. ;) |
2019-09-20 21-26-30 PDT | Nathan Johansen <nathan@npj.com> | Although I hesitate to get involved to any deliberate degree. People who do not have a clue can be a pain in the ass, and it often is not worth a nickel to try. ;) |
2019-09-07 14-22-48 PDT | Nathan Johansen <nathan@npj.com> | Cisco does this with some of the deprecated hardware and software on certain systems. This ought to be no different in approach (in so far as we can recognize that hardware is fixed and software is mutable (but cardinal)). |
2019-09-20 20-21-32 PDT | Nathan Johansen <nathan@npj.com> | I saw the "envelope" question ... |

2019-09-20 21-30-25 PDT | Nathan Johansen <nathan@npj.com> | Providing a remedy to stupidity and lack of initiative is a daunting task in any realm of activity. |
2020-05-04 09-39-16 PDT | Nathan Johansen <nathan@npj.com> | In that instant, they could inadvertently invoke the "Opacity" value and set it to null. |
2020-05-04 09-25-03 PDT | Nathan Johansen <nathan@npj.com> | So maybe they just got their settings off and it needs to be restored, I'm thinking. |
2020-05-04 09-14-21 PDT | Nathan Johansen <nathan@npj.com> | May I bother you for a moment? I just saw two new separate posts on the forums indicating the same behavior I mentioned several days ago regarding objects not appearing on canvas after they are drawn and given fill with outline. When you shift the Display Mode to "Outline" you can see the objects outline, but when you switch to any other mode (like "Normal"), it isn't visible (but you can still select it). I was just drawing a box or a circle to test this. Any ideas? |
2019-09-07 14-17-36 PDT | Nathan Johansen <nathan@npj.com> | René and I (as well as many others) have proved that there are limits to backward compatibility - however we also have seen that by moving forward enough, we can bridge to the prior. Kind of an interesting: "Hey, everyone! We can preserve this and still be innovative!" example of consistent cooperation sends the right word for history. |
2019-07-09 16-34-18 PDT | Nathan Johansen <nathan@npj.com> | What version of macOS was it that we were trying to get a target for ? 10.10 or 10.11 ? |
2020-05-04 09-39-41 PDT | Nathan Johansen <nathan@npj.com> | Then notice that their text isn't changing, and deliberately return their cursor position and focus to the edit point. |

2020-05-04 09-37-51 PDT | Nathan Johansen <nathan@npj.com> | I'm guessing that there is a keyboard shortcut to focus on the opacity box and it gets clobbered without them noticing, perhaps. Or they're intentionally changing it without noticing ... who knows. It may seem like a bug, but it's probably just sloppy technique and easy to set to zero without always being aware of that. |
2020-05-04 09-24-13 PDT | Nathan Johansen <nathan@npj.com> | When I draw the first object, the opacity is set to 100, but when I release the mouse, the opacity goes to zero. It stays at zero until you change it back to 100, then stays there. |

2019-06-16 23-28-47 PDT | Nathan Johansen <nathan@npj.com> | René and I have gone back and forth on how to avoid doing that, but for now, it works. |
2019-09-21 09-45-14 PDT | Nathan Johansen <nathan@npj.com> | René has a different method that produces a signed DMG, it just is not easy to reproduce, IMHO. I had hoped to keep the macOS build process simple ... |
2020-05-04 09-43-51 PDT | Nathan Johansen <nathan@npj.com> | I have no idea - I am an idiot and do that to myself on occasion, also - however I seldom play with the opacity, which makes me wonder how it's going to zero without my noticing. |
2020-05-04 09-40-10 PDT | Nathan Johansen <nathan@npj.com> | I'll leave you alone - thanks for taking a moment to look. ;) |
2019-09-20 21-31-16 PDT | Nathan Johansen <nathan@npj.com> | However, I am interested in causing good (or as René can appreciate: BON) in the World. |
2019-09-07 14-13-47 PDT | Nathan Johansen <nathan@npj.com> | Knowing that there are older and newer versions possible, but providing that which works. |

2020-05-04 09-18-58 PDT | Nathan Johansen <nathan@npj.com> | The suggestion that the opacity is set to zero is the usual theory - but by default at launch isn't opacity set to some positive value (like 100%)? |
2019-09-07 14-13-16 PDT | Nathan Johansen <nathan@npj.com> | As a strategy for performance across multiple instances, I would like to know if there would be some consensus on providing target versions (specific to platforms) for download, |
2019-09-21 11-09-40 PDT | Nathan Johansen <nathan@npj.com> | Installing the latest version from here ... https://inkscape.org/release/inkscape-1.0beta1/macos/1010-1015/dl/ |
2019-09-20 21-27-42 PDT | Nathan Johansen <nathan@npj.com> | But, I've been asked to try to contemplate the creation of such a thing. Honestly, I'm not utterly interested in saving everyone's ass anymore. Including my own, but we still do ... |
2019-09-21 09-40-45 PDT | Nathan Johansen <nathan@npj.com> | I once had it going through and individually signing and packaging all of the code into a complete package (sans the requisite Inkscape logo), then abandoned ~the~ them because of that (being the lack of logo). =) |
2019-06-16 22-58-36 PDT | Nathan Johansen <nathan@npj.com> | DO NOT DO THIS: (But use “sudo” when you do …)

2019-09-20 20-24-47 PDT | Nathan Johansen <nathan@npj.com> | Just read this nonsense from ~Bloomberg Markets~ today:
```The retreat is beginning with tiny steps, like taxpayer buyouts for homeowners in flood-prone areas from New Orleans to New York City and Texas to Florida. As people marched all over the world on Friday, furious at how their fellow humans have despoiled the planet and poisoned its atmosphere, the planet is pushing back. —David E. Rovella``` |
• [ https://gitlab.com/inkscape/inkscape/issues/84#note_141444713 ] also. |
2019-09-20 20-25-46 PDT | Nathan Johansen <nathan@npj.com> | I have been attempting to coordinate the utility of simplifying certain UN and NATO activities globally. |
2020-05-04 09-45-06 PDT | Nathan Johansen <nathan@npj.com> | Probably another one of those little elements that can be vexing - like not choosing the correct page size for your project and then the output is different than you expected ... |
2020-05-04 09-18-16 PDT | Windell Oskay <windell@evilmadscientist.com> | Let me take a look. |
2019-06-16 23-51-42 PDT | Windell Oskay <windell@evilmadscientist.com> | Thank you, but I'm just testing with daily builds from CI, plus the extensions -- it works well enough, and helps out with testing for "real world" issues like this. :) |
2019-07-09 16-40-52 PDT | Windell Oskay <windell@evilmadscientist.com> | I don't know if any hard target was ever set. Either of those is far enough back IMO; it should be limited by what's possible. 10.10 was released in 2014, 10.11 in 2015, as points of reference. |
2019-09-20 21-16-15 PDT | Windell Oskay <windell@evilmadscientist.com> | That was one of our users that I've been talking to by email-- wouldn't do that much good to have her asking plotter-specific questions here instead. |
2020-05-04 09-42-21 PDT | Windell Oskay <windell@evilmadscientist.com> | Is there a straightforward way to return settings to draw things with a fill or stroke and opacity? I've been bitten by this a few times over the years as well. |
2020-05-04 09-49-41 PDT | Windell Oskay <windell@evilmadscientist.com> | Well, something to keep an eye on... |
2019-09-21 09-27-57 PDT | Windell Oskay <windell@evilmadscientist.com> | Is there something in particular about it that you'd like to revisit? |
2020-05-04 09-35-24 PDT | Windell Oskay <windell@evilmadscientist.com> | I've seen settings like this quite a few times, drawing with 0 opacity or no fill/stroke. The first one seems to have resolved itself (yes, opacity). |
2020-05-04 09-30-50 PDT | Windell Oskay <windell@evilmadscientist.com> | Can you send me a link to the particular posts? I haven't found them on my own |
