2020-04-04 07-54-16 PDTTim Jones <timjones105@gmail.com>Hi Ryan did you add access to Gitlab for Sonia? If not, can you please, many thanks :-)
2020-12-05 02-55-26 PSTTim Jones <timjones105@gmail.com>Hi Ryan, great to hear from you, I'm glad you are going to be joining the meeting today! Nice to have you back...☺️ I can lead the meeting, it's not a problem. πŸ‘ There is a UI/UX brainstorm meeting one hour before Vectors if you want to lurk about there? I'm not sure what it's about? See you later. πŸ€—
2020-06-08 12-08-30 PDTTim Jones <timjones105@gmail.com>Yeah, I agree, here's to next time and fighting the good fight... ;-)
2020-04-04 07-55-38 PDTTim Jones <timjones105@gmail.com>not sure, I will talk her through it later, I've been super busy looking after parents etc... I'm a bit behind with everything thats going on...
2020-05-03 01-44-00 PDTTim Jones <timjones105@gmail.com>Yes, of course, ready and waiting... I made contact with the guys from Destination Linux Network. They have a network of YouTube channels and huge viewer numbers. I spoke to the guy in charge, he was very keen to push out Inkscape news whenever it's available, now, and in the future!
2020-04-04 07-56-23 PDTTim Jones <timjones105@gmail.com>You are a STAR sir! ;-)
2020-06-06 10-06-22 PDTTim Jones <timjones105@gmail.com>Thanks Ryan ;-)
2020-05-05 07-43-30 PDTTim Jones <timjones105@gmail.com>Hi Ryan, I was just looking at the Vectors Team Page: https://inkscape.org/*inkscape-vectors/ It occured to me, we should update our Vectors membership to better show case everyone involved. Is that something we can do? (if so how?) Or do we need Martin to add people? I'm just concious he is probably burnt out at the moment, and also, planning a break soon!
2020-05-02 11-05-58 PDTTim Jones <timjones105@gmail.com>Thanks for getting back to me, 😊. Ahh, I see, no worries, I thought I was going crazy for a moment... lol
2020-05-02 08-09-46 PDTTim Jones <timjones105@gmail.com>Hi Ryan, Is there a Vectors meeting today?
2020-06-06 13-24-22 PDTTim Jones <timjones105@gmail.com>Hi Ryan,\ I had a chat on Discord with Nick earlier, he seems like a nice guy. I think we need to strengthen our Vectors stand point about Social outreach and On-boarding new people.\ Where ever there is an Inkscape community, be that on a "Free-Libre" platform or a Proprietary platform, we should not discriminate, they are Inkscape users and potential Contributors of the future.\ I know our Dev's push back on Proprietary platforms, but we are Social Outreach, it is part of our Mantra to reach out to these people and bring them into the fold.\ No Group or person should feel, or be made to feel like a second class citizen because they choose to talk about Inkscape on a non-free platform. The important thing is, they are part of the Inkscape "Community". We had an amazing turn out for the About Screen contest... 90% of entries came from users who are active on Facebook. Proprietary platforms cannot be ignored or pushed to the side, we need to embrace them and bring them in gradually, not put up Walls. Our biggest user base is Windows... I know the Team want everyone to be on the Forum or Rocket Chat, but that's not the real world. People will congregate where they want, we have to accept that and embrace it. (IMHO) I would love to hear your view, perhaps I'm too idealistic...? Thanks for doing all that you do, and always being a foundation for the Vectors Team. ;-)
2020-10-24 03-40-35 PDTTim Jones <timjones105@gmail.com>Hi Ryan, Hope everything is ok? Just checking in... Stay safe and well. πŸ™‚
2020-10-21 04-11-10 PDTTim Jones <timjones105@gmail.com>Hi Ryan, I have finished editing the Inkscope Podcast interview with Sven Ebert. :movie_camera: I was wondering if it would be ok to get access to the YouTube channel, so I could upload directly myself? The video is in 1080p resolution with a 3.6GB file size. It might get a bit awkward expecting others to download the file from me, then upload to Youtube...? I understand if you would rather not increase the number of people with access, so don't worry about offending me... ;-) You might remember volunteering to be interviewed on the Podcast... Can we make that arrangement now! I would like to keep the momentum going, if I can. :-)
2020-06-22 07-31-13 PDTTim Jones <timjones105@gmail.com>Ryan, my dad was rushed into hospital last week, I've been going in every day. He had a heart attack last night. The doctors have advised me to stay in with him. I'm in a bit of a mess to be honest. Can you let the others know I wont be around for a while. I need to be with dad. Sorry to put this on you. Tim
2020-06-07 03-51-46 PDTTim Jones <timjones105@gmail.com>Thanks, Ryan, I really appreciate your considered point of view. I believe we have a process to store login credentials in case a maintainer of a platform disappears? I think Maren knows more about that process, I will speak to her about it. I know Proprietary platforms can never be "Official" but we should perhaps look at some sort of "Affiliation" Badge. As long as the maintainer is active in the Inkscape team and attends Vectors meetings etc... Something to ponder and discuss at some point maybe? Thanks again for your support, it means alot! ;-)
2020-04-04 07-56-06 PDTRyan Gorley <ryan@freehive.com>No worries. She should be set on this side.
2020-06-22 07-40-35 PDTRyan Gorley <ryan@freehive.com>Of course! I'm so sorry, Tim. I'll be praying for you and your dad.
2020-06-06 14-13-01 PDTRyan Gorley <ryan@freehive.com>Yada yada. You're the man in charge. Let's do it. :)
2020-06-08 10-40-40 PDTRyan Gorley <ryan@freehive.com>I just read the issue and it seems like we were able to navigate that issue without too much drama. It's going to come up again I'm sure, but we'll keep pushing to be inclusive.
2020-06-06 09-42-05 PDTRyan Gorley <ryan@freehive.com>Thank you, Tim, for being willing to take on a more formal role helping us nurture the community. You have such talent in that regard. Don't feel like you need to do it alone, but I think your talents will go a long way here.
2020-06-06 14-09-06 PDTRyan Gorley <ryan@freehive.com>As a matter of resources we may need to encourage people who want "official" support to use the forum or Rocket.Chat. Spreading our attention too thinly is why we ended up consolidating forums in the first place, and it is a problem if people are going to Discord to get support. But that doesn't mean these communities can't serve each other (which is frankly what happens in most cases anyway), and when we have a larger team we can have a designated person for these platforms. As far as Discord, Nick sounds like he's committed to keeping that going, so there we go.
2020-06-06 14-06-08 PDTRyan Gorley <ryan@freehive.com>My biggest concern would be that we have adequate access to these groups that someone can't just hijack it and walk away, or more likely, lose interest and let it rot with no ability to claim it.
2020-05-04 11-16-38 PDTRyan Gorley <ryan@freehive.com>Sorry I missed this. Yeah, they're a fun group. Great work!
2020-05-02 10-11-10 PDTRyan Gorley <ryan@freehive.com>Sorry! We had it last week because we thought the launch would be yesterday. We missed you. I should have sent out a reminder it wasn't happening today.
2020-05-02 22-02-51 PDTRyan Gorley <ryan@freehive.com>Well, we missed you last week. I'm glad you're still healthy! It sounds like we will _probably_ be releasing 1.0 Monday evening. I've got to hear back from Chris, but I may solicit your help pushing an announcement out to Facebook if you're available.
2020-12-04 16-25-49 PSTRyan Gorley <ryan@freehive.com>Hey @Tim, sorry I've been out of touch. I hope to join in the meeting tomorrow. It's probably best if I don't try to lead that though, since I'm a ways out of the loop. Is someone else taking care of that?
2020-04-04 07-54-39 PDTRyan Gorley <ryan@freehive.com>Yes, I did. Is she having trouble getting in?
2020-05-05 09-07-54 PDTRyan Gorley <ryan@freehive.com>I think people can actually just join the group of the have a login on the site. I don't think there is any restriction. Let me see if I can do anything with my permissions...
2020-06-06 14-04-49 PDTRyan Gorley <ryan@freehive.com>I agree wholeheartedly. Twitter is proprietary, so is Facebook. I recognize that we should not require people to be on those platforms to interact with the project, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't meet people where they are at.
2020-06-06 14-12-30 PDTRyan Gorley <ryan@freehive.com>You can tell I don't feel as strongly about this as Martin. Let's welcome this community into the fold, along with any others that are floating around. Gimpscape (https://gimpscape.org/) is a huge Indonesian community that we need to try to incorporate into the official project somehow, at least make sure that someone in charge over there knows we want to support them however we can.
2020-06-06 14-05-12 PDTRyan Gorley <ryan@freehive.com>While Mastodon is technically open source, we're still using some third-party to host it.
