Hi all, Could you give me some feedback on the book campaign? Have you read the book, liked it, tossed it, wished for something else, recommended it, have it next to your keyboard, gave it to a friend, never looked at it, read front to back, read specific parts, etc..
I got "Refactoring" and to be honest, other than reading the inspiring first chapter haven't used it much. It did motivate me to spend three weeks to completely rewrite the horrible style handling code.
I also bought myself the other two books. "Effective C++" was my nightly reading for several weeks. I found it quite useful as I rewrote the style code. I also completely read "Tour of C++". I found it quite interesting (I can't wait until we can use C++11!) but I found it a bit superficial. I think the "C++ Programming Language" would have been more useful (years ago, I learned all about the STL using the 3rd edition and C++ in general from the 2nd edition).
I do think the book campaign was a great idea and would support it becoming a yearly thing.
