The Inkscape Board votes to update the definition of the Sponsorship Levels beginning as of March 4th, 2017. The Bronze level is reduced to $500. Diamond and Platinum levels are merged to a one high end sponsor level. Website-based rewards for upper level sponsors is further clarified, with defined placements on the homepage, news items, and the sponsors' page. Top level sponsors will also be given recognition in the Inkscape Release notes.

2: Josh hasn't yet elaborated on his no vote for item 3 but I know he's at SCALE so presumably will fill us in when he gets back. Regardless, we've not previously advertised the Diamond and Platinum levels publically, and the terms of the vote permits reintroduction of Diamond whenever we determine it makes sense, so I think we can proceed with the majority vote here and can easily revisit it when a case is made for it.

Discussion:
We have received several donations of $500 in the past and would like to better recognize them by reducing the lowest tier to this level. We've only received a single $1000 donation so it seems to not be as popular of a denomination.
A recent Silver sponsor requested inclusion in the website footer. Space there is limited and likely would be high demand, so we wish to limit it to only higher level sponsors.
Our original plan did not provide differential benefits for the sponsorship levels. This introduces a few extra perks for the higher levels.
This also merges Diamond and Platinum as a $20,000 level sponsor. Our benefits between these two levels were not differentiated at all, and it seems superfluous to have two levels given that we've not yet had a sponsor approach us interested in funding near these levels. We can save Diamond for later and re-introduce it (maybe at $50k??) when we better understand what such a sponsor would be interested in.
Inkscape Funding Levels For Sponsors ------------------------------------

Inkscape wishes to acknowledge and encourage donations from sponsors. This proposal establishes a set of funding levels with given rewards.

The following levels are established (in US$):
Platinum Pen: $20,000 Golden Brush: $5,000 Silver Quill $2,000 Bronze Stylus: $500
- Rewards

A. Bronze Level: Acknowledgement on "Our Sponsor Page" in the "Special Thanks" section (which should be the lower portion of the page). No logos or links.
B. Silver Level: Acknowledgement on "Our Sponsor Page" (mid-page) with a logo or avatar image and one hyperlink to the sponsor's main website or to a product supplied to the Inkscape project (one year). We'll also offer thanks to the sponsor in our news feed (1-2 sentences in our Recent News section).
C. Golden Level: Acknowledgement at the top of "Our Sponsors Page" with a logo or avatar image and one or more hyperlinks to the sponsor's website, products, or associated sites (one year). The sponsor will be listed on Inkscape's homepage as Recent Sponsor until the next Golden or Platinum sponsor. We will publish an item in our Recent News feed, which will include a link to a full news item describing the sponsor's Inkscape usage, drawing-related products, or other prose/information provided by the Sponsor.
D. Platinum Level: Acknowledgement at the top of "Our Sponsors Page" as per Golden Level (two years). Inclusion of sponsor name in the Inkscape website footer (two years) with link to the sponsor's main website. The sponsor will be listed on Inkscape's homepage as Recent Sponsor until the next Golden or Platinum sponsor. We will publish one news item (as described for Golden) in our Recent News feed and a second followup news item around the one-year anniversary of the sponsorship. Platinum level sponsors will also receive a thank-you in Inkscape Release Notes of all releases made for a period of two years.
Logos must be 160x80px and non-animated. SVG's are encouraged. Logos must be non-political and non-offensive with the Inkscape board and SFC being the final arbitrators of suitability.
- Non-monetary Donations

Non-monetary donations are also accepted and may, with board approval, qualify for one of the above rewards. A general rule is that $5 worth of services is equal to a $1 cash donation. Significant non-monetary donations not qualifying for a reward will be recognized in a general "Thank You" section on the "Our Sponsors" page (as is the current case).
- Retroactivity

The changes in this resolution apply for sponsors with donations received since its adoption date. Prior sponsors will be handled under the terms of the original sponsorship level plan.
