[REFERENDUM] LGM Attendance 2014
The board is requested to vote on the following matter:
Proposal:
[ ] a. Cover travel and hotel expenses for up to 5 Inkscape developers to participate in LGM 2014, maximum of $500 per developer. [ ] b. Do not cover expenses for Inkscape developers to attend LGM.
Background:
LGM is an important meeting for the Libre graphics movement. This is a good place to showcase our upcoming release, Inkscape 0.91. Having Inkscape developers get together is always a good thing. Having Inkscape developers talking with others in the Libre Graphics movement might even be better.
Unfortunately, it is probably too late to have a developer propose to give a talk on Inkscape at the meeting.

"Developer" is defined as someone listed in Inkscape's AUTHORS file as of Feb 19, 2013. -- Bryce Harrington

Resolved:
The Inkscape Board has voted in favor of reimbursing up to $500 each in travel and hotel expenses for up to 5 Inkscape developers to attend LGM 2014. Tavmjong Bah will be the organizer for this event.
Votes:
Five in favor, none opposed. Motion passes.
Josh Andler a Ted Gould a Johan Engelen a Bryce Harrington a Jon Cruz a
(Mental Guy and Tavmjong Bah did not cast votes)
Comments:
Tav, since you proposed this I'm delegating you as the organizer. Let me know ASAP whether you're ok with this or not.
I will put out the announcement once I have your confirmation. I'll direct people to contact you for questions and to register. I figure you can handle it as first-come, first-served. I'd like to ask that board members wait three days before putting in a request, so we give preference to non-board folk.
Note that even if people register for this, they may end up not going, so maintain an ordered list and then after the event cross off any non-attendees and take the five that remain.
The main responsibility will be to make sure people collect receipts and get them to SFC. Please also check with Bradley and/or Tony for any special requirements that would make reimbursement smoother.
If anyone else has thoughts, chime in now. SFC and Bradley are CC'd as well now.

Hi Tav,
Could you give us a debrief on how the funding went for people's travel? Who did we fund, by how much, and have they received their funds?
There is a June 10th deadline for reimbursements, so just I'm doublechecking that this all got taken care of already.
Thanks, Bryce

I have just submitted the reimbursement requests for everyone.
We funded Martin Owens, Joakim Verona, Krzysztof Kosiński, Cédric Gémy, and myself. Martin, Joakim, and Cédric asked for the full $500 allocated; Krzysztof $471 (his airfare will be covered by LGM). I've asked for the full $1400 allocated for my attendance of both LGM and the SVG WG that followed.
I do have to say that it was a very productive meeting with a total of nine Inkscaper's it attendance.

Great, it's very heartening to see this event turned out to be such a success, and made good use of donations. I hope we can make a tradition out of this!
And also thanks for the trip reports. There were some good action items identified, esp. around building up the community, that sound worth following through on.
