Oh yeahm, and then we could add 128, 256 and 512px icons templates, and cover iPads, iPhones, Kindles, Nukes... (someone, slap my face quickly!)
In my never an humble opinion it's a templates abuse :)
We have a bunch of presets for page size in Documents Properties dialog. That's where it should go. We could even make that part of the dialog more usable, with less scrolling. Think the new shortcuts configuration UI and expanders for grouping.
+1
I've never use templates much, except for a few repetitive tasks I do, and I had to create my custom templates for that (DV Pal video with safe areas, for instance). A long list of templates is kind of overwhelming and makes it difficult to find the right one, so for everyday work I tend to just edit my document properties and that's it.
Just to clarify: this is not saying that templates aren't useful. They really are, but the overly long list makes them less handy.
In my opinion, kicking most of them out and adding a tutorial page saying how to create them would be far better than having dozens of them. But probably adding another tutorial page in the help section isn't an option.
On the other hand a good UI for template creation would be a good addition to inkscape.
