Last night I wrote an Informal Announce Text (using Brynn's text as a starting point) that we can use for sites like this. I also wrote a much shorter 2-sentence+links Brief Overview for sites with limited text entry fields.
I need to fold in mention of the hackfest donation page at least to the informal announce text.
The formal release text needs written still. I've worked on it a little but it's far from ready. Look at the 0.46 PR for a good example.
