Erm, well, I'll be explicit: don't even dare thinking to do something like
this! This makes me think that you don't have a clear idea about some
important use cases for guides. Really.

Please, before introducing the changes you're thinking about, let me invite
you to go a bit more into the argument because I fear you don't have a
picture clear enough to avoid missing some important points like the ones
above.
My opinion is that you're going to touch more points than intended for the
main goal of your blueprint. Let me advise you to be careful.
Guides are a very very important tool for my workflow (and I suppose not
only for mine) and if you break them... ;)
