Hey Ted,
The lpe-skeleton one is something Johan created as an example file for creating live path effects, it's good enough that I have one I'm working on already. :) However, my guess is that the wiki would be a better place for such instructional stuff.
I seem to recall that the session-player one was utilized by the MIT students for either the persistent undo, or the story board thing (possibly both).
