I do not think the calligraphy tool is useless. I would just like to know what on earth it is doing??? It is certainly not acting like a calligraphic pen. For a start the vast majority of broad nib calligraphy is done with a constant pen angle. The current one wanders back and forth making interesting but not calligraphic marks.
The original author must have had something in mind. I just wish that I knew what it was.
