Hi Jon,
I posted to the list saying I could do this also, but it doesn't seem to have showed up yet (it's annoying how slow they are!). Anyway, I'm not bothered either way, but I wanted to make sure we don't both do the same thing and waste our time! Let me know whether you're going to do this, or would like me to. As I say, it doesn't matter which.
Why don't you go ahead and do -- it is a simple, but helpful task. You can see an example of what I did previously here: http://rejon.org/projects/inkscape/reference/
I took screenshots of gimp and adobe illustrator for ref.
I took a bunch of Screenshots of the gradient tools in Jasc Paint Shop Pro and Jasc Webdraw http://matrix.netsoc.tcd.ie/~horkana/dev/gnome/inkscape/screenshots/referenc...
I also took some screenshots of the Adobe Photoshop gradients http://matrix.netsoc.tcd.ie/~horkana/dev/gnome/inkscape/screenshots/referenc... http://matrix.netsoc.tcd.ie/~horkana/dev/gnome/inkscape/screenshots/referenc... http://matrix.netsoc.tcd.ie/~horkana/dev/gnome/inkscape/screenshots/referenc... http://matrix.netsoc.tcd.ie/~horkana/dev/gnome/inkscape/screenshots/referenc... http://matrix.netsoc.tcd.ie/~horkana/dev/gnome/inkscape/screenshots/referenc... http://matrix.netsoc.tcd.ie/~horkana/dev/gnome/inkscape/screenshots/referenc...
And a screenshoto of just the tool options bar for gradients http://matrix.netsoc.tcd.ie/~horkana/dev/gnome/inkscape/screenshots/referenc...
Alan, can you post those links onto the wiki page about other apps...they are useful for future reference. Thx,
Jon
If we want a solution that will scale beyond a few dozen gradients I'm convince the task of creating or editing new gradients should be seperated out from the task of selecting and applying a gradient. Part of the reasion I created a set of gradients for OpenClipart.org was to have a sample set that made it clear to anyone redesigining the dialog that it would need to accomodate a whole lot of gradients.
Sincerely
