I should point out that I think the Photoshop gradients dialog sucks rocks in various ways and tries to do too much in a single dialog. The circle with an arrow in it is extremely ugly, an evil non standard widget to cover the fact that they never should have required a context menu in the first place (and despite it being incredibly lame I suspect it might even be one of the unique concepts they have fought with Macromedia about).
Can you add your comments to that wiki page, so we can keep track of all the ideas?
I certainly don't think we'll be copying any one particular implementation of a gradient editor verbatim, but figure the more info we have, the more educated a decision we'll be able to make regarding the design.
