How many people knew Inkscape had spell checking? (Rhetorical.)

How can such a valuable feature be omitted and can it be enabled by default in time for the next release?

Normally I avoid crossposting but I feel I am doing Inkscape users a service by informing or reminding them about this feature.

Are there any other fantastic features like this hidden away and awaiting rediscovery?
