A few more notes I forgot to mention last night, down below... 9. Website Downloads page. Under the Download link, there are platform-specific pages, a Source page, and an Addons page. Those all look great, but there's also another Download page which looks to be mostly redundant, except for the section on Development Versions. I wonder if we could help people avoid confusion and make the pages less subject to get out of date, if we simplified or removed the Download page. Perhaps it could be turned into a "Development Snapshots" type page?
- Yes, that old page causes duplicate work for everyone. I've been hoping for the releases app to be ready in time, so didn't bother to change the situation.
I'm not sure here, but I think we might need to have a page in that location. The page is actually a parent of the pages below in the menu... It only *looks* as if it were a 'sibling' (bolded, though). I don't know if the cms allows to *not* have a page in that position... Never tried. I might do so this weekend, if nobody else does (or Martin just knows).
Using a new page for development snapshots is possible - or we could also just add them to their specific platform subpage.
Maybe we could modify the main download page to only contain links to the subpages, for this release? (and add that page for the devel snapshots). Would still mean two additional clicks for those who dare select it instead of their platform page...
Some odds and ends / janitor tasks.
- When uploading packages to the website gallery, there is an option to set a thumbnail/icon image. I usually am in a hurry so don't bother. But it would be nice to have a stock icon, or a simple bash script to generate a custom SVG (and then render to PNG).
- Martin created some for 0.91 and the pre-releases - maybe he's still got the file? Here are a couple of examples: https://inkscape.org/en/gallery/=inkscape-package/
