Thanks Maren, Eternal Tyro, yes, that sounds familiar. So my point was - shouldn't he be in on this discussion?
I agree with Jelle Mulder. Why not just make the current website design responsive? I didn't realize that was an option. I thought Martin was presenting -- entirely new responsive design vs old fixed width design. But making the current design responsive sounds like the best idea to me.....assuming it can actually be done.
I think I've fallen in love with a lot of our website, especially InkSpaces and the gallery, and especially with the recent upgrades!
more icons
would be nice, though, as long as it's easy to know what they mean.
Yes, whether icons, or just some thematic graphics that carry through each 1st level page (or maybe even every page) and unify the site. Like some cute little cartoon characters that are doing different things (reflective of the topic for each page) in the footer. (Like on the Learn page, maybe they are sitting in school desks and studying. Or for Develop page they are tinkering with little hammers and drills. Or is that too overdone or mundane? Or maybe just series of nature images -- flowers or trees or leaves or bugs or wildlife, etc, etc. or planets or galaxies (real or imagined)?
All best, brynn

For the website design, I agree with the general notion that those scroll-but-where-is-the-real-contents pages aren't so great for us.
I like the current color scheme and Hinerangi's suggestion - more icons would be nice, though, as long as it's easy to know what they mean.
For pure design purposes, I'm not a fan of using Javascript, either, like Jabier.
If someone introduces a new framework, it would be important for me that they either document exactly what needs to be done (concerning compiling CSS or whatnot) when making changes, or that there's someone who will respond when we make functionality updates to the web site.

Whatever happened with the guy who expressed an interest in managing / admin-ing the website? I can't remember his name but he said he thought he had the right kind of skills, but was lacking in experience (iirc). And I remember he said something like he was going to start studying right away, and get up to speed. But I haven't heard anything else about it. Can't even find the bug report where it was discussed.
@Brynn: I think you are referring to Eternal Tyro. He has already helped us a lot with website administration (and still is, but he's also often very busy), and we have removed the 'job ad' from the Community To-Do list some time ago.
