this is what we at openclipart.org call "transparent turkeys" ;)
(because the first problem was encountered on a turkey image)
it was a bug in Inkscape 0.39 which caused this transparency, but the
bug is fixed now.
a quick repair is to remove every occurrence of
"fill-opacity:0.75000000;" from the file
