Yes. Before color tracing, the image is quantized to a small requested number of colors. It is being reduced from millions of colors to the number N requested in the spin box. The color of the each existing pixel is changed to the nearest of the N colors by finding the smallest (dR^2)*(dG^2)*(dB^2) distance.
So you can say "reduced number of colors" or "fewer colors" or whatever you need.
