If it would require a 1.2-compliant viewer to view the file, then yeah sorta sounds like you'd want to list it as 1.2. However, will this cause conflicts with other software that may reject SVG 1.2 ? If not, then yeah, couldn't hurt to bump it.

Btw, is there an early version of the SVG spec that we support 100%?
