I'd be leery of doing that. Right now "selection" in the layers dialog means simply "current layer". I think it would be confusing if it meant different things simultaneously.

that's hard, SVG Print has no provisions for double spread pages
I think we need to talk with the SVG folks about that actually; it's a rather significant omission.
