[Inkscape-devel] Can't compile, can't find libgc

When I try to configure Inkscape 0.44, I get a message: checking gc.h usability... yes checking gc.h presence... yes checking for gc.h... yes checking for GC_init in -lgc... yes checking libgc version 6.4+... 6.3.255 no configure: error: libgc (the Boehm Conservative Collector) 6.4+, is needed to compile inkscape -- http://www.hpl.hp.com/personal/Hans_Boehm/gc I have libgc 6.7 installed, so I'm not certain why Inkscape doesn't like it.
