Hi everyone,
I thought I would share this fact with the whole development team: a french guy started a new vector design software called Drawberry[1] which basically leverages OS X technology (Quartz and CoreImage) to draw and export simple vector drawings. In its description, it takes Inkscape as a reference for a complete, high end vector design software:
"With DrawBerry, you have all the possibilities the vectorial drawing offers you in a free, easy to use and powerful application. If you don’t need applications such Illustrator or Inkscape and you want to create some simple (or less simple) illustrations, DrawBerry is for you."
I'm sure this has already happened plenty of times on Linux: on this platform, Inkscape is clearly the biggest player. However what I find interesting is that Drawberry is Mac OS X only by design, and that Inkscape, though being non native, GTK based and all, is still recognized as a big player on this platform, right next to Illustrator. This is quite an achievement. The ill-intentioned may argue that this could also means that Inkscape is becoming as bloated and unusable as Illustrator is but I'm sure that the amazing amount of new features currently brewing in Inkscape will finally settle down and find their place in a clear, intuitive UI... Inkscape-style.
