A very useful feature for me (and probably others) is to toggle the meaning of the X and Y boxes between object lower left coordinate and object center coordinate.

I think this has already been suggested somewhere in our bug tracker. I think the best approach is to have a widget with 9 tiny buttons in a 3x3 grid, where each button moves the reference point to the corners, midsides, or the rotation center.
