RE: [Inkscape-devel] Win32 Frequent Crashes
The crash that I reported on 30 May with bitmap images is occuring more generally. Can someone with Win please confirm:
- Draw any object with bezier or freehand tool.
- Select object.
- Extend object with any control handle to or beyond edge of screen (not
the canvas). 4. Inkscape freezes.
Does not happen on Linux, and looks like this old bug:

Or is it different? If it is, please localize when it started happening.

I believe it is different. The old bug that you mention

occurred when you went outside the drawing area (canvas?). With the present bug there is no problem going over the canvas and then back etc.
This one occurs well beyond that, when you reach the edges of the screen. Inkscape freezes and that appears to be that. I have Inkscapes going back to 20 Dec 03. I have examined several back to and including the 20 Dec and the same behaviour occurs in all of them so I cannot localise it.
I have got rid of all installed Inkscapes and preferences and then done a clean install. Same behaviour.
SodiPodi 0.34 does not exhibit this bug.

Ignore last post. I've had more time to read bug 604306 in detail and do more fiddling.
I now think that it is that bug but I never met it before, and I rarely use keyboard shortcuts so I did not try these before.
campeys comments in detail 852976 seem to mirror the behaviour I am experiencing, including the seltrans->grabbed' failed message sometimes. The workaround works as well.
Sorry for false alarm and glad that it was known. Resume normal transmission.
