It would be helpful if packagers could generate binary platform packages from this tarball. If you spot packaging problems (like version numbers that didn't get updated, or missing files needed for builds), please raise these problems with me ASAP.

Hi Bryce,
Should we start using 0.91pre* in the stable PPA? At the moment, there is no stable build available for recent Ubuntu releases because 0.48.4 won't build with recent GCC.
Alternatively, we can wait for 0.48.5 if/when it is released!
Cheers,
AV On 18 Jun 2014 19:41, "Bryce Harrington" <bryce@...961...> wrote:

Hello Alex,
what is wrong with the 0.48.4? I am on Ubuntu 14.04 and can compile with just changing 2 letters.

Yes, it's a very minor fix but the patch is in 0.48.5, which hasn't been released yet. On 18 Jun 2014 23:07, "the Adib" <theadib@...400...> wrote:

We do need 0.91pre* packaged for Ubuntu, but I think the stable PPA should focus on the 0.48.* series for now.
I'm not sure what the timeline is for 0.48.5, but if it might be more than a week or two, then it'd be better to just put a patched up 0.48.4 in there for now. I notice Ubuntu is carrying 0.48.4-3ubuntu3 in utopic (14.10) with some fixes for changes in poppler, so you could just grab Ubuntu's utopic package and upload it to the PPA for 14.04 and other releases as desired. Let me know if you'd like help with this.

I am assuming the Windows file issue has been fixed in this version? I remember Liam not being able to upload it or something.

Hi Partha,
inkscape is linked together with inkscape.rc and so inkscape-manifest.xml
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="yes"?> <assembly xmlns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:asm.v1" manifestVersion="1.0"> <dependency> <dependentAssembly> <assemblyIdentity type="win32" name="Microsoft.Windows.Common-Controls" version="6.0.0.0" processorArchitecture="X86" publicKeyToken="6595b64144ccf1df" language="*"/> </dependentAssembly> </dependency> </assembly>
DO you think there must be some x64 indicators here?
However ,I am trying to detect which architecture is inkscape build against. This is in order to detect the architecture to be used for .msi. DO you have any idea how to do it?
Regards,
Adib.

Do you mean at compile time? Windows provides an environment variable
called "PROCESSOR_ARCHITECTURE" . Would that work for you?

The win64 files were missing and I added them to the packaging list (Makefile.am) in rev. 13432. Does the packaging script automatically change version numbers in those 64bit files, same as the 32bit ones?
inkscape.rc and inkview.rc have FILEVERSION 0,48,0,9 PRODUCTVERSION 0,48,0,9 where 48 should be 91, I think.

Actually, there isn't a packaging script. Kinda wish there was... I'm just manually updating all the files (locally) to produce the pre-releases, including updating the pot/po bits locally, with the tag being the only thing actually checked in each time. Do you guys think I should be checking in the pre* changes to trunk?

I built, packaged and uploaded the win32 packages. Builing was with no pain.
When I start Inkscape I get first a command window. I gues this is leftover "feature" from development period.? I am not shure.

Hi Bryce,
with my commit: 13437 http://bazaar.launchpad.net/%7Einkscape.dev/inkscape/trunk/revision/13437
http://bazaar.launchpad.net/%7Einkscape.dev/inkscape/trunk/changes/13437?start_revid=13437# win32 wix install creator: use version and architecture info... http://bazaar.launchpad.net/%7Einkscape.dev/inkscape/trunk/revision/13437 now the wix installer takes version from inkscape.rc that is updated anyway. Also now the wix installer handles 64bit target by getting architecture information directly from inkscape.exe.
I uploaded the so created pre1 64bit msi to sf.net. - I used Parthas binaries.
I reviewed the dist instructions in the wiki a bit.
however currently in inkscape rc files it reads: ... 1 VERSIONINFO FILEVERSION 0,48,0,9 PRODUCTVERSION 0,48,0,9 BEGIN ...
Could you make sure the release will have the build number set to "0" like ... 1 VERSIONINFO FILEVERSION 0,49,0,0 PRODUCTVERSION 0,49,0,0 BEGIN ...
Regards,
Adib. --

While thinking I was making the code more robust against bugs, I *introduced* a horrible bug in rev. 13429 http://bazaar.launchpad.net/%7Einkscape.dev/inkscape/trunk/revision/13429, meaning that pre1 is pretty bugged when applying LPE Bend, Envelope and similar effects. I reverted the change in rev. 13439.
I'm very very sorry for that. :(
