One item on the todo list at LGM was getting better notifications about when merge requests come in.

It requires an administrator for the inkscape project to set the branch reviewer to our mailing list account.
First, is this action a good idea? Do we want some emails to our list about merge requests? Second, is this the best technique? It could be done via a cron script and liblaunchpad too. And thirdly, any project admins have the time to configure the mailing list and the project to set this up for us?

I have the required privileges at Launchpad, but can't help if it also requires messing with the mailing list settings at Sourceforge.

Merge requests don't come in high volume so I don't mind the extra emails that would be sent to the mailing list but...
I *think* the key part is to request a code review from "inkscape.dev" then all inkscape developers (in the launchpad group) get an email if their emails settings allow it. This would allow a per developer setting for merge review emails. If this is not the case I don't know how/why I have received previous [merge] emails from launchpad.
Thanks for bringing that up... AFAIK we all get merge request emails already. I know I have seen a number over time when there are branches I had no previous knowledge about. Sending to the list seems redundant. Are people's spam filters catching them?

If everyone's getting the notifications already, then I'll move onto the second idea at the meeting:
A weekly email of all the merge requesting currently in an active (i.e. needs attention) status. This would list some of the details of the request and a link so developers could attend to them.
Thoughts on this idea?

Just keep in mind that launchpad does not allow per-user control for email. In general "the feature" gets controlled.
