By the way, the very same guys implemented an absolutely amazing extension that creates Gcode (Computer-aided manufacturing, or CAM data) out of Inkscape drawings:

Unfortunately there is less information in English than in Russian. But you can look at pretty pictures :)

Yes, we've discussed this subject in the Answer pages (https://answers.edge.launchpad.net/inkscape/+question/108536). This extension looks very promising, but needs some work. It now show in the extension menu, and should be converted to output extension (and show in the Save as menu). And it needs some UI tweak and, according to its author, some internal improvements.
