new tool - lattice deformation
hi!
In latest revisions a new LPE effect appeared - Lattice deformation. But it hasn't been working properly these days. I propose to create a new tool - exactly Lattice deformation. This tool (idea) is in Adobe Photoshop. This tool would be very helpful. Currently we can bend a shape in a few way, but only in one direction. This tool would enable to bend the shape in many directions. Have a look at my image:

I want to show a shape which is bent from top and bottom but I couldn't do it in Inkscape but I hope you know what I talking about - plaese see Everest logo:

What do you thing about it?

ps. sorry for my English
That tool look better in Corel Draw - so Corel may be a better source of inspiration.

The Lattice deformation LPE is here since at least 3 months. Could you be more specific concerning what doesn't work ? I've also noticed that in some build, the effect was broken, but currently in last svn it seams to work well.
I worked on it, I might be able to fix any bug.

There is also the Envelope deformation LPE that you may consider. Your Everest logo can be very very easily achieved by using this Envelope Deformation LPE.

Hi Steren! Mea culpa. You're right - having compilated recent revision, this LPE effect seems to be more stable but a few times I've encountered on crashes while dragging handles. But actually it is more stable. I don't want to make you any inconveniece but working with text is a bit hard. You know, to work with text, we have to convert it to a path, so after it, many nodes appears on the path hence it is hard to spot the handles of the Lattice deformation. Don't you concern to distinct these handles from other by for instance other colour? It would be very comfortable if the grid appeared between handles.
I hope you won't be angry with me for that remarks. :)
Thanks for reply, Wojciech RRH Ryrych

This is not purely effect related, it is more a UI issue, which is independent from the Lattice LPE. A lot of work have already been done to improve usability thanks to Maximilian and his work during GSoC. It is now much much better than it was before. He even added once the grid functionality, I don't know where his work went for this.
I hope you won't be angry with me for that remarks. :)
Absolutly not, don't worry.
Cheers, Steren
