(and, honestly, I haven't even looked at the other code in that extension... Unfortunately, my pull request to the original author from November last year hasn't been answered... :/ )
Is the licence (GPL3+) a problem? I can't change it.

There's existing GPLv3 code in there and as an extension isn't not so bad as long as the code is well labeled with a license header.
I think we effectively have a GPLv3 codebase which a majority GPLv2 and some other compatibles here and there (correct me if I've wrong)

As Bradley w/ SFC has explained to me previously, we're a GPLv2+ project with some GPLv3 code in it.

Small correction: It probably wasn't original author I tried to contact, after all... We might be lucky to get a response from one of them now... (https://github.com/Florianjw/NiceCharts/pull/6)

The 'last author', Florian Weber, would be happy to see the extension included, too. He does not want to be responsible for maintenance. The real original author has now also been contacted.
