Re: [Inkscape-devel] Export as .WMF gives Errors/ Inkscape-devel Digest, Vol 64, Issue 13
Sorry all, my gmail is NOT playing nicely with this list's digest version :P I have to copy and paste the Subjects and messages manually. So I'm gathering there is no fix for me at this time? Boy, that's a bummer. What's the ETA on Uniconvertor 2.0 for Windows?
Thank you, Gina

We have released UniConvertor 1.1.5 before Win7 release thus we didn't test application under this platform. Linux version works correctly. Now our team develops UniConvertor 2.0 so we hope to resolve platform specific issues for this version.

A hacky workaround would be: download and install virtualbox, download a linux distro, install that as a virtualbox guest, then setup a shared folder between Win7 and virtualbox. Then you could export from Inkscape in the linux guest to the shared folder and access the files from Win7.
Clumsy, but should work. Not sure if it's worth the hassle though.
FWIW I use the reverse setup daily - I run a linux environment with a Win XP guest so I can run a few windows-only programs.

Chris, I'm afraid that's way more than I want to do. ;) That's too bad because I was really excited about Inkscape, but if I can't save to .wmf, then I'm going to have to move on. Win7 has been out for awhile, I'm kind of surprised the fix for this has taken so long, no offense intended to the Uniconvertor developer, looks like there are a lot of different programs and platforms they develop for, so who has the time anymore, especially for little to no pay?
I need a vector program that works for me immediately, however, so until there's a fix I'll have to go elsewhere. Looks like a great program though. I took to it as soon as I opened it after a quick look around. I'd love it if it exported the wmf version. I'll watch the list for awhile in case there's other suggestions. And I've put the Uniconvertor development announcement page on watch to keep a lookout for the new version. I can't wait to use Inkscape some time in the future.
Deepest thanks to you and everyone for your immediate help on this issue. I really appreciate your time :)
Best, Gina

is there any chance that .emf output might be suitable for you, since .wmf is essentially just a subset of .emf, and Inkscape (on Windows) supports emf output.
