Hi
Just wondering if theres any plans to implement the ability to change the basepoint of an object. I just submitted 1178771 for this. It'd be really nice to be able to change the position or rotation based on all of the corners and centre, and perhaps midpoints of the sides of an object. Please refer to Scribus' Properties Palette for an example if its interesting to Inkscape.

What do you mean by basepoint exactly? You can drag rotation center anywhere, and you can also scale and skew around this displaced center. Isn't this what you are proposing? If not how is your proposal different?

I take it that it's the behaviour I know from InDesign... imagine you want to exactly place an object at 10mm from the right page border... what you would do is move the basepoint to the right of the object and then set the object to 200mm (at an A4 page that is)

Yep. Exactly. Its very handy for locating to various points on a page/layout/etc.
