yes - I meant to do this, but I forgot.  Sorry about that!  We should be able to just copy the packaging code from the daily PPA but link to the relevant revision in the 0.48 branch instead of trunk.  We'll need to check the versions of library dependencies though.  I'm away at a conference until next week, but I can look into it when I get back if no one else has played with it.
