Hi,
Looking at roadmap I realised that with current extensions infrastructure there should be just one simple step to have pdf2svg import - to write an inx file and to put pdf2svg files in right places. I thiunk I have succeded with the first part, but failed with the other. When I try to import a PDF file, Inkscape tells me:
Can't locate Math/Matrix.pm in @INC (@INC contains: /etc/perl /usr/local/lib/perl/5.8.7 /usr/local/share/perl/5.8.7 /usr/lib/perl5 /usr/share/perl5 /usr/lib/perl/5.8 /usr/share/perl/5.8 /usr/local/lib/site_perl .) at /usr/share/perl/5.8/Parser.pm line 20. BEGIN failed--compilation aborted at /usr/share/perl/5.8/Parser.pm line 20. Compilation failed in require at /usr/local/share/inkscape/extensions/pdf2svg line 20. BEGIN failed--compilation aborted at /usr/local/share/inkscape/extensions/pdf2svg line 20.
Being a non-programmer I understand now that maybe I tried to do too much :) If anyone is keen to look into this, inx files is attached. I might be back to this task when I learn my Perl math (if ever) :)
http://www.solidcode.net/pdf2svg/ is the home page of the script.

I'd personally be inclined to recommend looking at the project that bryce posted about Xara sponsoring to see if you can contribute this there as well. http://scratchcomputing.com/projects/uber-converter/
In my eyes, it would make sense for all of the vector file format hackers to focus energy on that project as it will probably become standard in the OSS vector community.
Of course we have not made any official commitment to integrate that with inkscape that I'm aware of, but it seems highly likely.

It looks interesting, but the whole world would be a worse place to live if I started coding :))

Right now, there isn't a lot of code to be written, but I should have a plan shortly. In any case, there's lots to be done that isn't code.
If anyone can share some .xar/.wix files, that would be very super-helpful. Please send links if you can. Contact me off-list if you can't post them somewhere or if you don't want them redistributed.
Please do not just attach them to incoming e-mail. I don't have a good way to judge how many people will reply and would prefer to not get buried :-)
Thanks, Eric
Hi,
we should perhaps collect some different vector files/formats (Adobe,Corel,Xara,...), so we have some files for tests.
