Just a quick note that I've added a dependency on libgc.
Things look OK except for one issue I'm not sure of ...
Debian puts the libgc header files in /usr/include/gc (they're good about segregating library header files that way). I'm not sure whether other distros do that, however.
Let me know if your distro puts them someplace else..

Looks like you've got some issues on Gentoo; emerge can't find 'gc' or 'libgc'.
Looks ok on Mandrake, though; you need 'libgc1' and 'libgc1-devel'. It installs into /usr/include/gc/.

On debian, the package is also called libgc1 (and libgc1-dev).
FWIW, Bulia built it by hand, and apparently it normally installs headers into /usr/include/gc, so we should be okay in that regard.
