
Nice, btw the gimp has a very nice stroke editor, perhaps you can just copy it.
I don't think we need anything elaborate, just a text field for editing the stroke-dasharray value. Combined with the preview, it will be suitable for most typical uses IMHO.
I used it very often and I don't think it was screen space waste because there is nothing else important at that position in the window.
Please describe your typical work scenario where you would euqally often use both modes and would need to switch them (I'm not arguing, just trying to understand).
As for space, removing this frees some more space for the statusbar messages. Besides, that button was rather out of place in that location because the statusbar is supposed to be used for information and tips on the drawing, not for changing window beahvior.
