PreRelease News: Windows Packages
Hi Devs, Adib, jazzynico and Eduard,
there appear to be a couple of prerelease packages to be around now for Windows :)
I'd like to link one or more from the news article and from the downloads page.
Will someone upload a (signed) 0.92pre2 binary to the website? It's a good chance to try the process out ;-)
Adib has pre1 packages here: https://inkscape.org/en/~theAdib/galleries/inkscape-092/ - the quota has been increased to two GB, so uploading more is possible now.
jazzynico/Eduard have their packages hosted at tuxfamily currently: https://download.tuxfamily.org/inkscape/win64/Inkscape-0.92pre2-x64-1.exe
Regards, Maren

Hi Maren,
I just uploaded fresh .exe and .msi installers to [1]. Only 64-bit versions right now, maybe I'll upload 32-bit versions later today (or rather early tomorrow). I went with the md5-checksum option for now (simply because I don't have a GPG key).
The upload process was a bit sluggish: While the .exe installer uploaded more or less flawless (the lack of any progress indicator is a bit inconvenient) the .msi installer was more problematic. The first upload request (I started it while still uploading the .exe installer) timed out with an HTTP 504 error (gateway timeout). I subsequently tried again with the request resulting in an HTTP 502 error (bad gateway). However the files were apparently fully uploaded despite the errors since they showed up in my gallery afterwards. Here I faced yet two other issues though: The first time I tried to access the MSI installer the page tried to display the file content to me with the over 70 MB of data effectively locking up my browser! Trying to move the .msi file to my gallery did not succeed. Only after some time I was able to move the file and view it normally (i.e. without "preview").
Best Regards, Eduard

Just a quick follow up to my previous mail: In fact the the MIME type of the uploaded .msi installer is wrongly identified "text/plain" whereas the .exe is correclty identified as "application/octet-stream".

Thanks, Eduard, for more testing. The bug report is here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape-web/+bug/1635450
I'm hoping Martin can have a look at this.
About the Bad Gateway errors: everyone experienced those around the time. Maybe the uploads were causing it - later today, we didn't have any. They always happen when the server load is too high... Martin said he'd restarted the server (or maybe that restart broke your upload?), and was monitoring it, to find out the cause.
I've changed your msi file's mime type manually for the time being.

Hi, I just tried out the 32 bit exe build of pre2 from the site : https://inkscape.org/en/~eduard.braun/%E2%98%85inkscape-092pre2-1exe
just writing to confirm that Bug 1635207 and Bug 1633834 are still present. These are both fairly old bugs that had previously been fixed, and have now reappeared.
Thanks, Alvin

Sorry for 'surfing' on this thread with my two additional bug questions:
These two are relevant for the release notes, though, that's why I'm pushing for an answer.
1. Can someone please take a look if this newly added feature is currently broken, or if I've just been using it the wrong way?: https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/1635462 (I'd take it out of the release notes, if it's really broken)
2. Can someone please tell me if this one is resolved? As far as I understand, it's a packaging issue (cairo version) for win64: https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/1418865 (I'd add it to the relevant fixed bugs section, if it's fixed)
Thank you!
Regards, Maren
