When exporting to PDF with the Page option it appears correctly in PDF readers, you only see the page area, but when you import the document back into Inkscape the objects outside the Page area are still there. Is this what it's supposed to work? I'd expect that everything outside the Page area gets discarded.

Not sure if there's a way to do this now, but that's something I hope to fix with my Export Pane feature I'll be writing for GSoC.
The way I intend to fix that is by allowing the same functionality in the Export dialog for vector formats such as PDF. That way you can export only the page, or a selection.
