Hello gang,
Given that we are now parted from modevia, how about unloading builds to graphicall which mostly hosts Blender builds? It already has an Inkscape section that looks rather lonely.

I think it's a great idea. +1 from me

+1 from early adopters (userland county), many of us already work with GIMP 2.7.4 from the same website this way we can fill specific requests from developers (aka - new feature need urgent testing or searching for regressions on existing tool or features ...)

So, we are in contact with them, and Uwe already has uploading rights.
Do we have anyone willing to upload builds for Mac?
Alexandre Prokoudine http://libregraphicsworld.org
I got a mac yesterday, so in a bit of time may be able to help, need to get up to speed on building first. Theres a month old baby who doesnt seem to like me having more than 5 mins of time to myself too to contend with...

I might be interested, maybe, to provide Mac builds from time to time (no scripted nightlies for now), but I'd first like to know how graphicall.org is intended to be used by the Inkscape project:
- for official nightlies only (i.e. no changes whatsoever to trunk, upload builds unless they fail) - custom trunk builds with local changes to packaging routines (not available as branch or patch) - custom trunk builds with e.g. features like experimental LPEs enabled, or other patches (e.g. to allow building with a different compiler) - trunk or stable builds with a different backend than the official packages (e.g. quartz on OS X) - ...
For example: if I'd be interested to upload a 64bit build of trunk (packaged as osxapp, based on locally modified packaging routines) which will only run on OS X 10.7 Lion but not on older systems (or at least untested on Snow Leopard), how would I proceed?
- Will there be a naming scheme for uploaded packages?
- Will there be an official account for the project, or are contributors assumed to create personal accounts at graphicall.org, and upload whatever they consider test-worthy?

Note: with the loss of inkscape.modevia.com, we also lost a package (DMG) with the pre-built python modules which needs to be downloaded, unpacked and included in the application bundle for Mac OS X [1].
Does graphicall.org also allow hosting such archives? The DMG mentioned above is _not_ intended for users, but for packagers only!

I have no foggiest idea :)

Alternatively, maybe a new launchpad project for such 'auxiliary' file(s) required for packaging on Mac OS X could be created/used - similar to the Windows devlibs (https://launchpad.net/inkscape-devlibs).

I'm still not sure that the existing devlibs solution is the best. They're binaries, not the best territory for a revision control system imho (although if only updating a few files, there's a benefit). I honestly think we might want to entertain going back to archive bundles.
Note, we also have to take into account that at some point we will need to have a second set of windows devlibs for 64bit binaries.
What are other people's thoughts on this?
Cheers, Josh
Graphicall hosts builds created by users. They don't have automated builds and the site is not intended to host nightlies (they don't have the resources either). I guess we could contribute with frequent builds for linux/windows/mac to give inkscape users a chance to test recent development builds but I wouldn't think of Graphicall as a permanent archive for official dailies.
