Blur slider and feBlend
In fact I find this feature very useful. The only problem is that it isn't at the best place.

Yes it's like a bug, but this is also the only simple way at the moment to activate this very useful kind of blend which isn't available by the Filters Editor. Thus before removing it that should be kind to offer another solution. I tried it in association with my filters and assuming you apply it after having grouped your already filtered object it works like a charm !

About "Blend to background image" I do not mean layer blend but object blend. I send you a file to see what is activated when you blur an object placed on top of another one now. A Blend primitive to the background image is automatically added to the Gaussian blur filter. I think that could be a recent change in the SVN because I noticed it only last week. Thus I think a checkbox which allows or not Blend to the background image close to the Opacity slider (sorry, I wrote Transparency instead of Opacity) in the Fill and Stroke dialog would be better than linking it with blur. Blend is visually closer to transparency than to blur.
Indeed it now inserts blendmode! This looks like a bug, I will raise a hell on the devel list now.
