Hi Martin and Everyone, In the GL comment (https://gitlab.com/inkscape/inbox/issues/318#note_241739373) were you talking about building community for this, were you thinking making a new chatroom, or using the existing Documentation chatroom?
I think I'm ready to move forward with this. It might not work out in the end, but I think it's at least worth a try. And it might not end up looking the same way as it starts out, but let's see what happens.
For "official tutorials" in text format, I'll type them in myself. The tutorial authors would be giving these to the project (with proper license) so they can be updated if necessary. Since I expect videos will be more popular, and based on past experience, I don't think I'll be overwhelmed. But I have a "plan B" in mind, if it gets to be too much work. For official tutorials in video format, I'd like to use the gallery plugin that Martin mentioned and Maren showed me.
For "officially endorsed" tutorials, those authors would retain ownership, and they remain hosted wherever the author has them hosted. But the authors would have to contact us about having their tutorial endorsed and listed in that section.
First request: For the text tutorials, I'm not sure how to organize it, from the Pages section of the admin panel. The tutorials don't need to be in the menu, but I assume it would be prudent to keep them somehow together. Like say, in the Page Tree, there would be parent section called Text Tutorials (which is not a page itself), and within that section are all the pages with tutorials. Then on the Tutorials page, there will be a text link to each page.
Is there a way to do that? Would I just set up an empty page to represent the parent section? And put all the pages under it. Oh...or I guess they could go under the Tutorial page, as long as they aren't in the menu....right? Or is there a better way to do it?
2nd request: I can't find any way to add the gallery plugin. I've looked at both of the pages Maren showed, to see how they're set up. But I just don't see a "InkSpace Gallery" plugin anywhere. (Plus when I try to edit, it tells me I don't have permissions.) Could someone either tell me how to add the plugin, or else do it for me?
In the proposed new Tutorials page, I put "[gallery plugin here, for videos]" in a gold highlight, to show where they need to go (in 2 places). Also, I guess I need to know how to use them. How do I upload videos into them?
(I looked in my permissions, but there are so many. Plus some that I think I already have, it looks like I don't have. So it's a little confusing, and better to let someone else set that up.)
Once those plugins are in place, and unless someone sees an error, that page will be ready to publish, in the place of the current Tutorials page. And I'll send out an email to all the tutorial authors I know, letting them know about the new page and the chatroom.
One last minor detail. It seems like the section about 'how to participate' should be smaller, since the tutorials should be the main contents. I tried using the Small Inline text style, but oddly, that section still took up exactly the same amount of vertical space - just the text was smaller, but the spacing was larger.
Any suggestions for making that section seem less important? Maybe put it in a small box (table w/ 1 row, 1 col)? Or maybe to make the tutorials above seem more important somehow? If I use the Normal (DIV) would that let me set a text size by editing the source?
Thanks for your help, brynn

Hi brynn,
I've fixed the page so it's a normal page now.
You can think about using the gallery plugins to show tutorial categories on the page. I recommend collecting together youtube videos and submitting them all (just the youtube links) into galleries. These would allow us to recommend good youtube channels to go to for tutorials.
Let me know if you need guidence on how to set this up.
Best Regards, Martin Owens
