I have already splitted English user guide into several smaller files on one-chapter-per-file basis and I'll commit changes as soon as I get back home. I will do the same for French user guide later today or tomorrow. Then it will be easier to compare them and sync content, while restructuring is on planning stage.
I think it would save trouble to split it before we really get started, but if you've got it already split into chapters, I think that will be good for now.
The main question I have right now is whether you want to sync all the document info. For instance, the French has:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <!DOCTYPE book PUBLIC "-//OASIS//DTD DocBook XML V4.4//EN" "http://www.oasis-open.org/docbook/xml/4.4/docbookx.dtd" [ <!ENTITY nbsp " "> <!-- FIXME: half-space doesn't work <!ENTITY eg "e. g.">--> <!ENTITY eg "e. g."> <!ENTITY hellip "…"> ]>
whereas the English only has;
<?xml version="1.0"?> <!-- SYSTEM "/usr/share/xml/docbook/schema/dtd/4.3/docbookx.dtd" -->
Also, is it okay to change the comments such as:
<!-- CAPTURE D ECRAN OU BOITE DE DIALOGUE -->
<!-- DESCRIPTION D OUTIL -->
to such as:
<!-- SCREEN CAPTURE OR DIALOG BOX -->
<!-- TOOL DESCRIPTION -->
or are those custom handling tags?
