Is there no way to get around that dialog from the screenshot?
What should be happening there is that when you click on 'Edit' for a file in the repo, is that it should ask you whether you want to create a fork, and then do that for you, then open the editor.
As I don't get to see that dialog... it's difficult for me to know how to dismiss it. You shouldn't need to import anything. I'm not sure whether it needs that group name, it didn't need anything like that for me.
The 30 days free trial should not be an issue, see screenshot.

Obviously I don't want to create a project but just edit the Inkscape project, but GitLab prompts me to create or import a project, even when clicking an Edit in GitLab link from the documentation. What is the best option, and if it's import, do I click the GitLab export button?
