Any documentation projects coming up?
I've used Inkscape for a few personal things and I'd like to contribute to your documentation. I clicked the bug report link regarding the web page that explains the difference between vector and bitmap drawings (#1258842), but I'm getting Page Not Found. Is that project still open?
If not, please let me know if anything else comes up.
Thanks.
Hi David,
Let me know the URL and I'll have a look to see if it's missing, or parked or what have you. Sometimes the urls change, but I try and make sure there are redirects.

Hi David,
that web page (https://inkscape.org/contribute/to-do-list/) is very much out of date, and I think we should probably take it out of the menu (tbh. I thought we already had).
Beginners' content like 'vector drawing basics' could be a part of the Beginners' Guide (https://inkscape-manuals.readthedocs.io/en/latest/), or it could even be a tutorial that comes with Inkscape (reachable from Help > Tutorials).
Additionally, the Beginners' Guide needs to be proof-read for 1.3. Just marking the parts that need updating to work with a current version.
Does any of this sound interesting to you?
Kind Regards Maren

Hi Maren,
Yes, that sounds great. I'd like to start with the proofreading. What's your process for editing in GitLab?

Hi David,
thanks, that would be awesome!
So, depending on your idea of proofreading and technical expertise, there would be two different ways to do it:
* You could try the guide out, and note down the areas that need an update and your suggestion for how to update them in an issue on Gitlab.
* Or you could edit the guide's source .rst files in your fork and make one merge request per chapter with your updates, and then we'll talk about your changes there in the MR discussion thread.
And if you have questions about how something works before you make a change to the text, please ask those in the documentation chat channel at https://chat.inkscape.org/channel/documentation .
Does that answer your question?
Kind Regards Maren

Yes, Maren. I'd like to make the edits directly, so I just signed up with GitLab. I have two questions:
1. Can I keep the free basic account beyond the 30-day trial? 2. Obviously I don't want to create a project but just edit the Inkscape project, but GitLab prompts me to create or import a project, even when clicking an Edit in GitLab link from the documentation. What is the best option, and if it's import, do I click the GitLab export button?
I've already been taking notes on edits, but I'm looking forward to putting them in as soon as possible.

Wow, they've really become annoying to new users... :-/
Is there no way to get around that dialog from the screenshot?
What should be happening there is that when you click on 'Edit' for a file in the repo, is that it should ask you whether you want to create a fork, and then do that for you, then open the editor.
As I don't get to see that dialog... it's difficult for me to know how to dismiss it. You shouldn't need to import anything. I'm not sure whether it needs that group name, it didn't need anything like that for me.
The 30 days free trial should not be an issue, see screenshot.
