Some of us are very familiar with the interface, and some of us are able to look it up in the code.
Everyone is invited to ask in the chat in the translation channel instead of guessing / spending a lot of time researching: https://chat.inkscape.org/channel/team_translation (please include the English string and the lines where it says it's used in the program code when asking)
We can then add comments for translators to the unclear parts in the code.
