I'd certainly be interested to hear if you work this one out. I've checked again: the file passes "msgfmt -cv", and the two final strings don't have anything unusual that I can see.
I didn't see anything obviously wrong with them either. For 0.44.1, just dropping the two last entries make the error go away. I figure we can just keep an eye out while doing make distcheck for 0.45 to see if the issue is still there, and tackle it then.
