I was able to get make distcheck to pass by removing the last two translations in the vi.po file. I'm not certain why distcheck didn't like them, but perhaps they can be sorted out and included in the next release.

I'd certainly be interested to hear if you work this one out. I've checked again: the file passes "msgfmt -cv", and the two final strings don't have anything unusual that I can see. From the text below, the error is objecting to the string:
#: ../share/extensions/wmf_input.inx.h:3 msgid "Windows Metafile Input" msgstr "Nhập Siêu tập tin Windows"
which is the final string. Errors quoting initial or final text in a file can sometimes be about the format of the file, not the text. However, the file shows as UTF-8, no BOM, LF, which is normal. I'm puzzled...
I can only suggest inserting a blank line at the end of the file, and seeing if that helps. I've copied this message to the Translation Project mailing list: there's a lot of expertise there, so list members may be able to shed some light on this problem for us. :)

In running make distcheck against the 0.44.1 branch, there is an error with the Vietnamese translation (attached). Does anyone know why it

giving that error? I looked at the vi.po file and it looked okay as

as I know, so I'm not sure what the error message is indicating.
Thanks, Bryce
