Hi!
I'm a Linux user for some years and I think it's time to start contributing. Besides, I'm a teacher at a secondary art school (ages 15-18) in Oporto, Portugal were we've been spreading the usage of free and open source software (FOSS). One of the difficulties students mention is the English language used by most applications.
To overcame this problem I've decided to start helping in translating some projects.
Because my school teaches exclusively art courses, I thought Inkscape would be a good starting point.
After some searches around portuguese translation communities I end up contacting the portuguese Ubuntu translation team. I think I could benefit from the Rosetta platform and the Ubuntu-pt team collaboration.
My question: is it possible to translate Inkscape through Ubuntu's Rosetta platform and then submit the finished work to Inkscape's project?
Hi. I'm Leandro Regueiro from galician translation team: http://trasno.net
You could translate the software using Rosetta, but I don't like much that system since the software you translate is old versions. The best solution is to translate the po file using tools such as poEdit and upload the .po file translated to inkscape svn.
Bye.
Kind regards, Alexandre Martins
ps: is there someone in this mailing list working on the Portuguese version?
